Choose the GE Smart Scale if you want a lower-cost option with key readings shown on the scale itself. Choose the Hume Body Pod if you want more app-based body-composition estimates, segmental muscle analysis, and broader reported health-app compatibility. Neither is a clinical diagnostic device, and a higher metric count does not prove greater accuracy.
How the GE Smart Scale and Hume Body Pod differ
Both are connected home scales that measure weight and estimate body-composition information. Their clearest practical difference is how much information they report and where you see it: Wareable’s June 2026 comparison says the GE displays key readings on the device, while Hume relies on its app for broader analysis, including segmental muscle analysis.

What the Hume Body Pod’s specifications mean
Hume’s official FAQ lists four weight sensors, a 5–200 kg (9–400 lb) weight range, and 50 g (0.1 lb) precision. It also lists dual-frequency bioelectrical impedance analysis (BIA) for body-fat measurement, a heart-rate sensor, Bluetooth, a rechargeable battery, and 45 body-composition measurements. These are manufacturer-published specifications, not independent comparative test results.

Hume says its app tracking features are free and that premium nutrition tracking, personalized coaching, and weekly reports are optional at $9.99 per month. Hume’s FAQ states, “You do not need premium features to use the app.” Check Hume’s current terms before purchase because feature access and pricing can change.

How to interpret the accuracy claims
Hume’s marketing describes a Socotech study and an accuracy figure relative to DEXA. The product listing’s disclosure says the analysis was conducted by Hume Health Corp using platform data, was not externally funded, had not undergone independent peer review, and involved investigators with an inherent commercial interest. That disclosure is important context; it does not establish an independent head-to-head accuracy result.
Wareable’s reviewer says they tested Hume for over a month and saw some body-fat variation between readings taken minutes apart. The comparison also describes GE readings as imperfect from day to day. Those observations are the reviewer’s experience, not a clinical trial or our own testing. Neither the number of reported metrics nor the listed precision establishes that one scale produces more accurate body-composition estimates.

Choose the GE Smart Scale for a simpler, lower-cost setup
- You want to see key readings on the scale rather than open an app for every result.
- You are satisfied with the core set of reported metrics, such as body fat, BMI, muscle mass, bone mass, water, and visceral fat.
- Keeping the purchase price lower is a priority. The June 16, 2026 Wareable figure is a historical snapshot, so confirm the price and availability in your region.
Choose the Hume Body Pod for wider app-based analysis

How to get more useful readings from either scale
Body-composition scales estimate rather than directly diagnose body composition. Use readings as a consistent trend, not as a definitive measurement of health or a reason to react to one result.
