Garfield: Escape from Monday is a family-oriented 3D platform adventure built around familiar character humor, collectible lasagnas, and costume-based abilities. Its premise and playful exploration may appeal to Garfield fans and younger players, but reviews disagree about how well its controls, level design, and presentation hold up. The available criticism is mixed rather than conclusive, so the best fit depends on whether the Garfield theme and accessible platforming matter more to you than precision and polish.

The setup turns Garfield’s dislike of vegetables into a nightmare. After Jon feeds him spinach lasagna inspired by Chef Monday, Garfield dreams of exploring strange worlds and facing enemies. He must find and eat lasagnas to restore his taste buds. The premise and feature descriptions here come from the publisher and PlayStation Store, not independent hands-on testing.

Platforming and exploration
The PlayStation Store description says Garfield can jump, climb walls, and curl into a ball. Microids describes three worlds containing dozens of levels, with enemies and lasagnas to find along the way. Those details set expectations for a straightforward platforming loop: move through themed stages, overcome obstacles, and search for collectibles.

Costumes and collectibles
Three costumes add distinct abilities, according to Microids: a turkey outfit lets Garfield fly, a surfer outfit lets him slide on water, and a cowboy outfit gives him a lasso for swinging. Collectibles also contribute to refurbishing Jon’s house. The publisher’s descriptions establish these features, but do not by themselves show how varied or demanding the levels feel in play.
What reviewers say about the PS5 game
The reviews surfaced for this game differ in emphasis; they should be read as individual opinions, not as a representative critic consensus.

- Spider-Men, Peter Parker and Miles Morales, return for an exciting new adventure in the critically acclaimed Marvel’s Spider-Man franchise. Swing, jump, and utilize the new Web Wings to travel across Marvel’s New York, quickly switching between Peter Parker and Miles Morales to experience different stories and epic new powers, as the iconic villain Venom threatens to destroy their lives, their city, and the ones they love.
- An evolution of the Spider-Man story: The incredible power of the symbiote forces Peter and Miles to face the ultimate test of strength, both inside and outside the mask, as they balance their lives, friendships, and their duty to protect those in need.
- Experience two playable Spider-Men: Quickly swap between both Spider-Men as you explore an expanded Marvel’s New York. Experience Peter’s new symbiote abilities and Miles’ explosive bio-electric venom powers, and discover upgradeable, high-tech equipment that enhances the combat experience for extensive gameplay depth and variety.
- Battle iconic Marvel Super Villains: Fight against a variety of new and iconic villains, including an original take on the monstrous Venom, the ruthless Kraven the Hunter, the volatile Lizard, and many more!
- Pocket Tactics is broadly positive about the gameplay and performance.
- PSX Extreme characterizes the game as a missed opportunity, pointing to a gap between its controls and gameplay on one hand and its presentation on the other.
- MeriStation, in a Spanish-language review, is more critical of the controls, level design, and visual presentation. It also notes that younger players may enjoy exploring the levels.
For a buying decision, the useful questions are whether Garfield’s characters and humor will hold a player’s interest, how precise the movement feels, and whether the stages offer satisfying challenges beyond collecting items. The reviews provide conflicting signals on those execution details, so they do not support a single settled verdict about the experience.
PS5 features, price, and store rating
The PlayStation Store page lists the PS5 version for one player and offline play, with DualSense vibration support. The listing does not specify resolution or frame rate, so neither should be assumed from the platform or controller features. It labels the content rating “Mild Fantasy Violence.”
