To factory-reset most Sonos soundbars, unplug the power cord, hold the Join button while reconnecting power, and keep holding until the status light flashes orange and white. If your model has no Join button, Sonos directs you to use Play/Pause or Mute instead. The Arc Ultra and Beam Ultra use a different procedure: hold the Bluetooth button while reconnecting power. A factory reset erases product information, so reboot the soundbar instead if you only want to restart it.
Decide whether you need a factory reset or a reboot
A factory reset removes the product’s registration information, content saved in My Sonos, and content services. Sonos commonly recommends it before transferring ownership; the app may also recommend one if it cannot find the product during setup. Sonos says, “We do not recommend resetting your Sonos product as a troubleshooting step.” Read its factory reset guidance before proceeding.

If you only need to restart the soundbar, reboot it: unplug the power cord, wait 10 seconds, reconnect power, and allow about one minute for startup. This does not require the button sequence for a factory reset. See Sonos’s reboot instructions.
Factory-reset the soundbar using its model-specific button
First identify the exact model, then follow the corresponding current instructions on Sonos’s reset page. The general procedure covers “All other Sonos products”; Arc Ultra and Beam Ultra have a separate Bluetooth-button procedure.

Most Sonos soundbars
- Unplug the soundbar’s power cord.
- Press and hold Join while reconnecting the power cord. If the soundbar does not have a Join button, hold Play/Pause or Mute while reconnecting power.
- Keep holding until the status light flashes orange and white, then release the button.
- Wait for the light to flash green. Sonos indicates that the product is then ready to set up again.
Sonos Arc Ultra and Beam Ultra
- Unplug the power cord.
- Press and hold the Bluetooth button while reconnecting power.
- Keep holding until the front light flashes orange and white, then release the button.
- Wait for the light to flash green, which indicates the reset is complete.
After the reset, follow Sonos’s add-product and setup process to return the soundbar to your system.
Read the status light in context
- Flashing orange and white: Sonos identifies this as the factory reset in progress. The same pattern can also indicate a software update and, rarely, a fault, so the light alone does not prove a reset is underway. See Sonos’s LED light explanations.
- Flashing green after the procedure: the product is ready to be set up again; for Arc Ultra and Beam Ultra, Sonos says green means the reset is complete.
Know what a reset removes
A factory reset removes registration information, content saved in My Sonos, and content services from the product. If you need to clear more than one product, reset each one individually. Sonos warns that resetting all products in a system permanently deletes system data that cannot be restored.
