A cracked monitor screen is physical damage to the panel; cleaning, software settings, glue, or a screen film will not repair it. Identify the monitor’s exact model, check the warranty, and ask the manufacturer or an authorized service center for a written panel-replacement estimate. Then compare the full repair cost with replacing the monitor.
What to do first
- Identify the monitor. Record its brand, exact model, screen size, and purchase date. Panel availability and repair options depend on the specific model.
- Check the warranty for your model and region. Do not assume that coverage from another brand or country applies.
- Request a written repair estimate. Ask the manufacturer or an authorized service center whether the panel can be replaced, and whether the estimate includes the part, labor, shipping, and diagnostic charges.
- Compare repair with replacement. Consider the monitor’s age, condition, specifications, repair turnaround, and any warranty on the repair.
Can a cracked monitor screen be repaired?
Sometimes, through a model-specific panel replacement. Contact the manufacturer or its authorized service provider to confirm that the correct panel is available and to get a quote. Some manufacturers publish limited service information: EIZO USA says LCD panel repair or replacement is supported for at least five years from purchase, but you must contact its service channel to confirm support for your unit. An independent repair shop may be another option, but confirm that it can source the exact panel and provide a clear estimate and repair warranty before authorizing work. There is no established universal price threshold for deciding whether repair is worthwhile.
When should you replace the monitor instead?
Replacement is a practical option if panel service is unavailable or the estimate does not fit your budget. Compare the proposed replacement with your existing monitor’s size, resolution, refresh rate, input connections, and stand requirements. Include the total repair quote—not just the panel price—in your comparison.

Will the warranty cover a cracked screen?
Coverage depends on the manufacturer, model, and region. Several published policies treat physical panel damage as excluded damage rather than a covered defect:
- ASUS: Its FAQ classifies cracks or breakage in monitor screen glass as customer-induced damage and says this is not covered by warranty service. It says an authorized service center may offer chargeable replacement of damaged parts. The FAQ was last updated June 5, 2026. Read ASUS’s customer-induced damage criteria.
- Sharp (US): Its desktop display policy lists cracked and other user-induced damage among warranty exclusions. Read Sharp’s desktop display warranty.
- AOC (US and Canada): Its warranty information says a cracked or broken LED panel is not covered under the stated warranty. Read AOC’s warranty information.
These examples do not establish the policy for other manufacturers or territories. Check the terms that apply to your exact monitor, and ask about paid service if warranty coverage does not apply.

What does panel replacement cost?
Published prices are limited to the service, size range, age conditions, and region stated by the provider. LG UK lists £229 for LCD monitor screen replacement for monitors measuring 20–31 inches. Its page says the listed monitor services apply to units less than six years old from purchase. This UK figure is not a universal price; confirm current availability and request a quote for your exact model. See LG UK’s Right to Repair information.
Why not fix it with film, glue, or a DIY panel swap?
A surface film or glue is not a panel repair, and the available manufacturer guidance does not support either as a fix for a cracked display panel. A replacement panel is model-specific, and the sources do not establish a general DIY replacement procedure.

Do not assume that opening a monitor is safe. A manual for a medical LCD monitor warns that removing covers may expose users to dangerous voltages or other hazards and directs servicing to qualified personnel. That warning applies to the device covered by that manual, not necessarily every consumer monitor; it is not a consumer repair guide. Read the medical LCD monitor manual.
