Canva’s Magic Resize workflow is now presented as part of Magic Switch. In the editor, choose Resize, select a suggested format or enter custom dimensions, then choose whether to resize the current design or create a separate copy. Review every result before publishing: an automatic size change can affect cropping, text wrapping, spacing, and element placement.
How do I use Magic Resize in Canva?

Open the design you want to adapt in Canva’s editor and select Resize.

Choose a suggested destination size or enter custom dimensions. If the design has multiple pages and the option is available, select which pages to resize.

Choose Copy & resize to make a separate resized copy, or Resize this design to change the current design.

Open the resized design and inspect the result. Check image crops, text wrapping, spacing, and the placement of each element; make any adjustments needed for the destination format.
Canva describes Magic Switch as a way to resize a design into many sizes. Its Magic Resize product page presents the feature as an upgraded Magic Switch workflow. Magic Switch also advertises transformations into other document types and translations, but those are separate capabilities from changing a design’s dimensions.

How do I resize one design for multiple social media sizes?
Use the Resize panel to select destination formats for the platforms or placements you need. Suggested sizes are a convenient starting point for common formats; custom dimensions are useful when you have a specific specification. Canva’s Help Centre documents selecting up to five new sizes per design and resizing up to 50 designs in one batch, with no more than 250 resized outputs in a bulk action. These limits are from Canva’s Resize designs and size limits page, which does not display a publication date; check it for current limits before planning a large batch.

For social posts, resizing is a starting point rather than a guarantee that every version is ready to publish. Different aspect ratios can change how much of an image is visible or how a composition reads. Review each output in its intended shape, then adjust it where needed.

Can I resize a Canva design without changing the original?
Yes. Select Copy & resize to create a separate resized design and leave the original unchanged. Choose Resize this design when you want the current design changed in place. If you are unsure, use the copy option so you can compare the new size with the original before deciding whether to keep or edit it.

Canva’s Help Centre says Magic Resize is not supported in Canva Docs. It points to Magic Switch as a way to transform a Doc into a presentation, but that changes the document format; it is not a direct resize of the Doc. To resize dimensions, start from a supported design type in the editor.

What determines whether Magic Resize is available?
Canva’s Help Centre lists eligible plan categories and user roles, so access can depend on the account, role, and design context. If the Resize option is missing, check the file type first—especially whether you are working in Docs—then confirm your plan and role in the current account. Canva also states that each Magic Resize use counts against the monthly AI usage limit. Current access conditions and limits are listed in its Help Centre guidance; the plans and pricing page can help you check available plans for your location and billing cadence.
When is Magic Resize different from the rest of Magic Switch?
Magic Resize changes a design’s dimensions for another size or destination format. Magic Switch is the broader workflow Canva uses for additional transformations, including turning designs into other document types and translating them. Canva’s Magic Studio announcement provides broader product context. For video-specific resizing, Canva also has a separate Video Resizer feature page; do not assume its workflow or capabilities are identical to resizing a design with Magic Resize.
