Add a clock to a Samsung Galaxy Home screen by opening Widgets, choosing Clock, and adding a style. If you want the time on the Lock screen or while the display is off, use the separate Lock screen clock or Always On Display (AOD) instead.
Add a clock widget to the Home screen

Touch and hold an empty area of the Home screen.

Tap Widgets.

Find and select Clock.

Browse the available styles, choose one, then tap Add.

Drag the widget to the position you want. If the widget offers resize handles or settings, use them to adjust its size or appearance.

Samsung’s Home screen widget instructions cover adding and managing widgets. The styles and controls available can vary by device and widget.

Change the Lock screen clock or add a widget
The Lock screen clock is separate from the Home screen widget. On supported devices, touch and hold the Lock screen to open its editing controls. Select the clock to change its style, or choose Add widgets (sometimes shown as + Widgets), select a clock option, and tap Done. Samsung’s Lock screen feature instructions and Galaxy widget instructions describe these controls; the labels and layout can differ by model and One UI version.
Show the time while the screen is off
Enable Always On Display if your Galaxy supports it. On newer software, look under Settings > Lock screen and AOD > Always On Display. Older versions may use different menu labels. Samsung describes AOD as a way to view the time, date, notifications, missed calls, and other supported information with the screen turned off; its AOD instructions also cover timing options.

What to know about AOD clocks and widgets

Samsung says Galaxy devices running One UI 6.1 use the Lock screen clock for AOD; clock styling behavior differs on earlier releases. Do not assume every version offers a separate AOD clock style.

Samsung’s instructions for One UI 7.0 or higher describe Lock screen widgets appearing on AOD when AOD is enabled. Support can vary by device and software.

Power saving mode can affect AOD availability on documented devices. If the AOD option is absent or unavailable, check the device’s software version and model-specific settings.

Confirm which screen you are editing. A Home screen clock is added from Home screen widgets; the Lock screen clock and AOD are configured separately.

Check the controls your device actually shows. Samsung notes that widget choices and settings vary by device and widget, and Lock screen options can vary by One UI version.

For AOD, check power settings. Power saving mode can affect whether AOD is available on documented devices.

Check software support. Lock screen widgets on AOD and clock styling options depend on the One UI version and device.
