ERR_CACHE_MISS means Chrome says a page needs information you entered earlier to be submitted again. It does not, by itself, prove that your browser cache is corrupted. Check the page and the status of any form submission before trying again—especially for checkout, banking, or other sensitive actions.
What ERR_CACHE_MISS means
Google Chrome Help describes the message this way: “The page needs information that you entered earlier to be submitted again.” Google’s explanation of common Chrome error messages does not identify a corrupted cache as the cause in every case.
If the message appeared after you submitted a form, first check whether the original action went through. Review the page, confirmation email, or account activity before resubmitting payment or personal information. The code alone cannot tell you whether the action completed.

How to troubleshoot ERR_CACHE_MISS on a computer
Follow these Chrome desktop checks in order. The message does not reveal the cause on its own, so use each result to narrow down whether the issue is the connection, browser profile, or a particular website.

Check the URL and reload once
Confirm that the address is correct, then reload the page once. Note whether the error affects just this site or several unrelated sites. If several sites fail, investigate the connection before changing browser settings.

Check the internet connection
Make sure the computer is online. If you are using Wi-Fi, check the router or modem. On public Wi-Fi, look for a sign-in or access-approval page that may be waiting before the connection can reach the internet.

Update and restart Chrome
Install any Chrome update offered by the browser, then quit and reopen Chrome. Try the affected page again.

Compare with an Incognito window
Open the page in an Incognito window and see whether it behaves differently. If it works there but not in your regular window, an extension or saved browsing data in your normal profile may be involved. Incognito is a diagnostic comparison, not a guaranteed permanent fix.

Check extensions one at a time
Disable extensions and retry the page. If the error clears, re-enable extensions one at a time, testing the page after each change, to identify a possible conflict.

Clear selected browsing data if needed
Before clearing data, choose what to remove and the time range rather than automatically selecting everything. Clearing cookies can sign you out of websites or remove site settings. Some pages may also load more slowly the first time afterward while content is downloaded again. Google explains the effects of clearing cache and cookies in its cache and cookies guidance.

Try later checks if the problem remains
Close unused tabs to free memory. If appropriate, check whether firewall or antivirus settings are blocking the page, and consider resetting Chrome settings. These are later troubleshooting steps, not proof that security software or Chrome settings caused the message.

Google’s desktop instructions cover connection and loading problems in more detail: Fix connection and loading errors in Chrome on a computer. Menu labels and steps can differ on Android and iOS, so these desktop directions should not be treated as universal mobile instructions.
