There isn’t enough current, comparable product evidence to responsibly name five top KYB platforms here. This guide covers four vendors with documented capabilities: Middesk, Trulioo, Sumsub, and Alloy. They are not ranked winners, and no independent accuracy or performance comparison is available. Use the profiles to decide which vendors merit a demo for your markets and onboarding workflow.

What does KYB software do?

Know Your Business (KYB) software helps a company check the identity and status of a business, understand its ownership and related people, screen for risk, and record a decision for review. Sumsub’s documentation describes KYB as due diligence into a company’s structure, ownership, purpose, and activities. The exact legal duties depend on the regulated business, jurisdiction, and applicable rules; using a software platform does not by itself guarantee compliance.

A useful evaluation goes beyond whether a product can look up a company name. Check whether it supports the business records, owners, screening, exception handling, and follow-up your process requires.

Which KYB platforms are worth evaluating?

Platform Evidence-supported positioning Monitoring described
Middesk U.S.-oriented business identity and risk checks using federal and state data, according to Middesk. Not established in the cited product details.
Trulioo Global business and owner verification workflows drawing on registry and other data, according to Trulioo. Ongoing monitoring is described on its product page.
Sumsub Business and ownership checks, document review, screening, and questionnaires, according to Sumsub. Periodic rechecks are described by Sumsub.
Alloy Perpetual KYB and customer-risk orchestration announced for the UK and Europe. Alloy describes reassessment prompted by meaningful events.

These are vendor descriptions, not independent findings. The cited materials do not establish a fifth candidate with enough current product detail for a responsible profile, so this is a four-platform shortlist rather than a verified top-five ranking.

Middesk: consider it for U.S.-focused onboarding

Middesk presents its product as business identity verification, ownership confirmation, and risk screening from application through decision. Its stated checks include entity details across all 50 U.S. states, UBO and KYC checks, OFAC and other screening, web presence and industry classification, and document checks including IRS EIN validation. Middesk says it prioritizes IRS and Secretary of State data. It also reports that 70% of verifications resolve without analyst intervention; that is Middesk’s own figure, not an independently established or directly comparable benchmark. Ask how the sources and match results work for your entity types and cases.

Trulioo: consider it when multiple countries are in scope

Trulioo describes a service that combines registry and other data with business and owner checks, configurable workflow routing, audit-ready reporting, and ongoing monitoring. Its product page claims access to more than 700 million entities and support for more than 500 business registration number formats. Those are Trulioo’s claims, not independently verified measures of coverage or match quality. In a demo, request evidence for the specific countries, registries, company types, and ownership scenarios you need.

Sumsub: consider it for a broad set of checks in one workflow

Sumsub describes registry checks, corporate structure and beneficial ownership checks, owner verification, questionnaires, document reading and review, AML screening, and periodic rechecks. Its product page states that it accesses 600M+ commercial records and that an automatic business check takes 15 seconds on average. Both are vendor-published figures; the cited page does not establish independent performance or how those figures apply to your cases.

Alloy: assess its announced UK and European perpetual-KYB offering

On January 21, 2026, Alloy announced a perpetual KYB and Customer Risk Assessment orchestration solution for banks, fintechs, and payments companies in the UK and Europe. Alloy says it reruns checks and reassesses risk when meaningful events occur, such as registry updates or watchlist hits, and describes AI-assisted research and enhanced due diligence. This is a dated vendor announcement, so confirm current availability, supported markets, and the scope of the offering directly with Alloy.

How should you compare KYB software?

Start with the businesses you actually onboard, the jurisdictions involved, and the risks your program is designed to address. Then ask each vendor to demonstrate the same cases and workflow. A broad claim of global coverage is not proof that a particular registry, entity type, or ownership structure is supported well enough for your needs.

  • Business records: Which countries and registries are covered? Can the workflow verify entity status and retrieve or review relevant documents?
  • Ownership and people: Can it identify and verify beneficial owners, principals, and other associated people? How does it handle complex ownership chains?
  • Screening: Which sanctions, PEP, adverse-media, and license checks are available, and how are matches resolved?
  • Workflow and integration: Can you configure routing and exceptions? What API or hosted integration options are available, and what work is required to connect them to your process?
  • Monitoring: Are rechecks periodic, event-driven, or both? Which changes trigger a reassessment, and how are resulting cases presented to reviewers?
  • Evidence and review: What source details, documents, decision history, and audit records can your team retrieve? How are uncertain matches escalated for manual review?
  • Operational performance: Test automation and speed claims against your own cases. Measure manual-review rates, false positives, evidence quality, and escalation handling using definitions agreed in advance.

Vendor metrics can be useful questions for a demo, but they are not a substitute for a like-for-like evaluation. For example, an automation rate and an average check time may describe different populations or steps and should not be treated as directly comparable.

What should you ask before buying?

  1. Define the scope. List the countries, entity types, expected onboarding volume, risk profile, and ownership cases you need to support.
  2. Show the same sample cases to each vendor. Include straightforward businesses as well as cases that require document review, complex ownership analysis, or human escalation.
  3. Request source-level coverage detail. Ask which registries and data sources support each market in scope, how current the data is, and what happens when a source is unavailable or a match is uncertain.
  4. Map the full workflow. Include checks on the entity and associated people, screening, reviewer handoffs, evidence retention, and post-onboarding monitoring.
  5. Request a like-for-like quote and implementation plan. Compare the same countries, check bundle, monitoring frequency, volume assumptions, manual-review support, and integration scope. The cited product materials do not establish comparable pricing or implementation requirements.
  6. Agree on evaluation measures. Define how your team will assess review rates, false positives, evidence quality, and exception handling before interpreting vendor performance claims.

Middesk’s September 4, 2025 buyer guide likewise points buyers to company size, client volume, risk profile, jurisdictions, internal KYB strengths and gaps, budget, and growth plans. That is vendor-authored buying advice, but those are practical inputs for building a requirements list.

Which shortlist should you take to a demo?

For a U.S.-centered workflow, Middesk’s stated focus makes it a candidate to assess. If several countries are central, ask Trulioo to substantiate coverage in each one. For a workflow combining entity, owner, document, and screening checks with periodic rechecks, evaluate Sumsub against your requirements. If event-triggered reassessment in the UK or Europe is a priority, ask Alloy to demonstrate the availability and precise scope of the announced offering.
