Yes—Samsung has made DVD players, and several Samsung Blu-ray players also play DVDs. Whether you can buy a new Samsung unit today depends on your market and current stock; the available evidence does not establish a worldwide end-of-production date.
Samsung DVD players: the short history
Samsung has produced standalone DVD equipment. Its UK support archive still lists the DVD-SH875M, a legacy DVD player, with support materials: Samsung UK support for the DVD-SH875M.
Samsung also made Blu-ray players that play DVDs. That matters if you want one device for both DVD and Blu-ray discs, but DVD playback should be verified for the exact model rather than assumed from the brand or product category.

Can you buy a new Samsung DVD player now?
Availability depends on the country, seller, and specific model. The Samsung UK page for the BD-H6500 marks that model “No longer available,” but a single product page does not establish a global policy. A February 2024 Samsung Members community post included a user’s statement that Samsung no longer sold Blu-ray/DVD players; that is a community member’s report, not an official company announcement: Samsung Members discussion about BR/DVD players.
The sources establish Samsung’s past DVD products and DVD-capable Blu-ray models, but not a corporate-wide discontinuation date or current inventory across countries. If you are shopping, check live stock and the exact product listing in your market.

What to check before choosing a player
A Blu-ray player with explicitly documented DVD playback may suit someone who wants to watch an existing DVD collection. Before buying any replacement, verify:

- Region compatibility: Check the player’s region code and whether it matches your discs. Do not assume a player will read discs from every region.
- Television connection: Check that the player’s outputs work with your TV. Confirm the exact connection options on the model you are considering.
- Condition and returns: For older or refurbished hardware, review its condition, return terms, and whether it has been tested.
- Remote and support: Verify that a suitable remote is included or obtainable and that support materials are available. Do not order a replacement remote without confirming the player model.
How to identify your Samsung player
If you already own a Samsung unit, find the model number before looking up disc support, manuals, or accessories. Samsung says the model and serial numbers are on the back of the player: Samsung support: locating model and serial numbers.
