To record your screen on a supported Samsung Galaxy phone, open Quick settings, tap Screen recorder, choose the sound and other options shown, then tap Start recording. A short countdown begins; use the on-screen controls to pause, resume, or stop. The finished video is saved in Gallery.
Record your screen with Quick settings

Open the app or screen you want to capture.

Swipe down from the top of the display to open Quick settings. On some software versions, swipe down a second time to see the full panel.

Tap Screen recorder. The panel layout and button names can vary; Samsung says the Notification and Quick settings panels were redesigned beginning with One UI 7 (Android 15). See Samsung Canada’s screen-recording guide.

Choose the options available on your phone, such as whether to record no sound, media sound, or media sound with microphone input. Depending on the model and software, you may also be able to select a recording area or show taps on the screen.

Tap Start recording. Samsung says a three-second countdown appears before capture begins; some interfaces let you skip it.

Use the floating toolbar to pause, resume, or stop. Some interfaces also offer a drawing tool or a selfie-video overlay, but these controls are not available on every model.

If Screen recorder is missing from Quick settings
Check other Quick settings pages first. If the button is not there, edit the panel and add it from the available buttons. Samsung Gulf describes opening Edit buttons or the plus control, locating Screen recorder, and adding it to the panel; the exact control depends on the interface. See Samsung Gulf’s instructions.
Choose recording options and adjust settings
Before starting, select the sound option that fits the clip. Available choices vary, but may include no sound, device media audio, or media audio with microphone input. If offered, choose whether to show taps or capture a selected area rather than the full screen.

For settings such as video quality, video size, sound, and showing taps, open Settings > Advanced features > Screenshots and screen recordings. Some phones use a slightly different or singular menu label, such as Screen recorder; follow the wording shown on your device.
Find the recording after you stop
Open the Gallery app and look for the Screen recordings album. Samsung Canada lists the default storage path as Internal storage > DCIM > Screen recordings. The save location may be adjustable in Screen recorder settings.

Check model support and recording limits
The built-in recorder is not guaranteed to be available on every Galaxy phone. Samsung’s Canada support page, updated July 16, 2026, lists supported Galaxy S20-family and later named S models through S26, selected Note10 and Note20 models, and named Z Fold and Z Flip generations through current models. Samsung Ireland’s guide, updated September 9, 2026, gives a comparable model list. Support depends on the exact model and can vary by region; check the local Samsung support information for your phone rather than assuming every Galaxy or A-series model includes the feature. Why some content will not record
Copyright protection can prevent screen recording of certain photos, videos, apps, or websites. If protected content appears black in the recording or capture is unavailable, that restriction may be the reason.
