To enable a notification for an SCCM package deployment, check the package deployment wizard’s User Experience page and the Configuration Manager client setting Show notifications for new deployments. The client setting displays a notice for deployments available for less than a week each time the client agent starts; it is not an immediate, scheduled-time toast for a particular package. Microsoft’s package example confirms the User Experience page but does not document a separate package-specific notification switch.
How do I enable a notification for an SCCM package deployment?
Configuration Manager notification behavior can be set at the client level or in deployment-specific user experience options. Microsoft describes the client and Software Center as able to display notifications to users signed in to Windows in its User notifications documentation.
- Review the package deployment settings. In the package and program deployment wizard, open the User Experience page and review the available choices for your installed Configuration Manager version. Microsoft’s documented example covers installation outside maintenance windows, restart behavior, and write-filter handling, but does not list a standalone package-specific notification toggle. See Deploy Windows To Go.
- Check the client-wide notification setting. In the Configuration Manager console, go to Administration > Client Settings, open the applicable client settings, and review Show notifications for new deployments. The setting applies to deployments available for less than a week. The client shows the notice each time its agent starts. Microsoft documents this setting in Client settings.
- Confirm the setting applies to the target clients. Check which client settings are deployed to the computers receiving the package. A client-wide setting will not help if the target client is using a different applicable configuration.
Use the exact labels and available controls shown in your Configuration Manager installation: the package example does not establish that package and application notification options are identical across versions.
What changes for available and required deployments?
For application deployments, Microsoft distinguishes an Available purpose, which lets users choose whether to install, from a Required purpose, which installs according to the deployment schedule. The application deployment guidance places user-notification choices on the User Experience page, including Software Center display and notifications. For available application deployments, hiding the deployment in Software Center and all notifications is unavailable. These are application-specific instructions, not confirmation of equivalent package controls. See Deploy applications.

- [Quick PC Diagnostic Tool] Is your new PC build showing a black screen? This motherboard speaker translates silent hardware failures into clear BIOS beep codes. Instantly identify if your RAM, CPU, or GPU is causing the boot failure without guessing.
- [Essential for DIY PC Builders] Modern motherboards often lack built-in audio alerts. Plugging in this mini piezo buzzer before your first boot ensures you hear the satisfying “single beep” of a successful POST, giving builders immediate peace of mind.
- [Universal 4-Pin Header Compatibility] Wondering if it fits your board? It features a standard 4-pin female connector (with 2 active wires) that perfectly matches the “SPEAKER” or “SPK” front panel header on almost all ATX, Micro-ATX, and Mini-ITX motherboards.
- [Clean Wiring & Loud Alarm] Designed with an approx. 3-inch cable, it is long enough to easily plug into the motherboard but short enough to reduce PC case wiring clutter. The premium piezo element delivers a loud, crisp beep that is impossible to miss.
- [Valuable 3-Pack for IT Repair] Includes 3 internal BIOS buzzers in one pack. Perfect for IT technicians keeping spare diagnostic tools in their repair kits, or PC enthusiasts testing multiple rigs. A cost-effective solution to save hours of troubleshooting.
Microsoft also documents an optional dialog instead of a toast for certain required application software changes with a future deadline. That dialog choice is for required deployments; do not assume it is a package setting. The details are in User notifications.
Why might the notification not appear?
- The client-wide setting may not cover the deployment. Its documented notice is for deployments available for less than a week, and it is shown when the client agent starts—not necessarily at the package’s scheduled time.
- The deployment wizard may not offer a package notification switch. The Microsoft package example identifies the User Experience page but does not enumerate a separate notification control. Verify the choices in the installed version rather than copying an application or software-update setting.
- Windows may be suppressing Software Center notifications. Microsoft says Windows 11 enables Focus assist for the first hour after a user signs in for the first time by default; Software Center notifications are suppressed during this quiet period. See User notifications.
- Check Windows notification conditions. Confirm that the user is signed in and that Windows notification or quiet-period settings are not preventing the notification from being shown.
Do not use software-update notification values for a package
The Configuration Manager PowerShell reference for software update deployments documents UserNotification values including DisplayAll, DisplaySoftwareCenterOnly, and HideAll. Those values are documented for software updates, not as proof of a package deployment notification control. See Set-CMSoftwareUpdateDeployment.
