There is no verified winner for fully anonymous cloud storage among the services reviewed. Proton Drive, Internxt Drive, and Tresorit describe protections intended to keep providers from reading file contents, but the available product information does not establish that any allows anonymous signup and payment. Tor access can protect parts of your network connection; it does not make an account anonymous.

What “anonymous cloud storage” can—and cannot—mean

People often use “anonymous” to mean one of two things: hiding file contents from the storage provider, or using a service without tying activity to their real identity. Those are separate properties.

  • File privacy: End-to-end or zero-knowledge encryption is designed to prevent the provider from accessing usable file contents. Check precisely what is encrypted, including filenames and folder information.
  • Account anonymity: Signup identifiers, verification requirements, payment records, and account recovery can link a service account to a person. Encryption alone does not answer these questions.
  • Connection privacy: Tor can obscure aspects of a connection from some observers, but it does not remove identifiers attached to an account or payment.

For that reason, treat “anonymous” as a question to investigate rather than a feature established by an encryption label. The reviewed pages do not fully resolve signup, payment, all metadata, recovery, or jurisdiction for the three services below.

Service What its cited documentation says What it does not establish for anonymity
Proton Drive Proton says files and folders are end-to-end encrypted and that filenames are protected. It offers access through a Tor onion site, password-protected and expiring sharing links, and says its apps are open source with audit reports published. Its product page lists 5 GB on the free plan. The reviewed pages do not establish anonymous signup or payment, or that using Tor prevents account activity from being associated with an account.
Internxt Drive Internxt describes device-side protection and zero-knowledge storage. Its Drive page cites a 2024 Securitum audit, ISO 27001:2022 certification, and HIPAA status. The cited page does not establish anonymous signup or payment. The scope of the audit and the boundaries of certifications or HIPAA-related claims should be checked before treating them as evidence for a particular use case.
Tresorit Tresorit’s knowledge base says files are encrypted on-device and decrypted locally. Its encrypted-sharing controls include passwords, expiration, open and download limits, email verification, and watermarking. The cited knowledge-base page does not establish anonymous signup or payment. Its documented strengths here are encryption and controlled sharing, not verified anonymous access.

How the three options differ in practice

Proton Drive: encryption plus Tor access

Proton’s security page says: “Our end-to-end encryption means no one, not even Proton, can access your files and folders or see their names without your permission.” It also says users can access Drive through Tor “for extra privacy.” Those are useful distinctions: the first concerns file and folder privacy, while the second concerns the route used to connect.

Neither statement establishes anonymous registration, untraceable payment, or the absence of account-linked activity. If Tor support is important to your threat model, Proton is the clearest documented fit among these options, but do not treat the onion site as a substitute for checking account identifiers. The Proton product page lists a 5 GB free plan; storage tiers can change, so confirm current limits on the Proton Drive product page.

  • SuperSpeed USB 3.0 - Transfer all your confidential files and folders faster than ever before. Works on both PC & Mac

Internxt Drive: zero-knowledge claims and assurance references

Internxt describes its storage as device-side and zero-knowledge, and its page refers to a 2024 Securitum audit and ISO 27001:2022 certification, as well as HIPAA status. These provider-page statements can help identify assurance materials to examine, but they do not by themselves show what the audit covered, which systems or controls a certification applies to, or whether signup and payment can be anonymous.

Tresorit: granular controls for sharing

Tresorit’s knowledge base describes local encryption and decryption and lists controls for encrypted links, including passwords, expiry, open/download limits, email verification, and watermarking. These controls can matter when the main risk is unintended access after sharing. Email verification is itself an identity-related choice to consider; the page does not establish anonymous account creation or payment. The article is marked updated September 16, 2026.

Integral 4GB Crypto-197 256-Bit 3.0 USB Flash Drive Encrypted - FIPS 197 Certified, Brute Force Password Attack Protection & Waterproof Double Layer Design
  • Certified to FIPS 197 - U.S. Government Approved High Level Information Security Standard.
  • Protection against brute force password attacks - Data is automatically erased after 6 unsuccessful access attempts. The data of the USB flash drive type c encryption with dual connectors is destroyed and the cryptographic drive is reset.
  • Durable dual-layer waterproof design* — Protects the crypto reader from bumps, drops, run-in and immersion in water. The electronics are protected by a hardened internal case. Rubberized silicone outer case provides a final layer of protection.
  • Auto-Lock —The cryptographic key automatically encrypts all data and locks when removed from a PC/Mac or when screen protection or "computer lock" is enabled.
  • Secure Entry —Data on these flash drives cannot be accessed without the correct alphanumeric password of 8 to 16 characters. A password indication option is available for this flash drive. The hint cannot match the password.

Choose by threat model, not by the word “anonymous”

Before choosing a provider, write down which observer or failure you are trying to protect against. A person concerned about a provider reading stored files needs evidence about encryption and key control; someone trying to avoid account identification must separately investigate signup and payment. A person sharing sensitive material also needs to assess link controls and recipient verification.

  • Provider access to file contents: Look for device-side or end-to-end encryption, and identify who holds usable decryption keys.
  • Exposure of filenames and folder structure: Verify whether these metadata are encrypted, not just file contents.
  • Identification at signup or payment: Check required email or phone verification, payment methods, and what account information is retained. The cited pages do not settle these points for the three services.
  • Network observation: Determine whether Tor access is supported and what it does—and does not—conceal in your circumstances.
  • Sharing risks: Compare link passwords, expiration, access limits, recipient verification, and other controls against the way you plan to share.
  • Loss of access: Understand recovery options and the consequences of losing credentials or encryption keys before storing the only copy of important files.
  • Trust and legal exposure: Check audit scope, jurisdiction, and the provider’s stated handling of legal requests. These details are not fully resolved by the cited pages.
  • Everyday usability: Confirm supported devices, storage limits, synchronization, and collaboration features for your needs.

How to verify a provider before storing sensitive files

  1. Read the provider’s security documentation. Identify what is encrypted, where encryption and decryption happen, and who can access usable keys. Start with Proton Drive security, Internxt Drive, or Tresorit’s “What is Tresorit” knowledge-base article.
  2. Inspect the underlying assurance material. For any audit, determine its date, scope, systems examined, and whether findings are available. For a certification or compliance claim, determine what entity, service, and controls it covers.
  3. Check signup and payment directly. Confirm required identifiers, verification, and payment options for your country. Do not infer anonymity from zero-knowledge encryption or Tor support.
  4. Review metadata, recovery, and sharing. Find out what account or file metadata remains visible, how access is restored, and which link protections are available.
  5. Test the practical fit with non-sensitive files. Confirm that your devices and collaboration workflow work as expected before relying on a service for important data.

The Cloudwards anonymous-cloud comparison and Secure Cloud Storage comparison database can provide additional comparison context, but their category or security labels do not establish anonymous signup or payment. The latter states an August 2026 fact-check date.

Bottom line for choosing in 2026

None of the reviewed documentation proves fully anonymous registration and payment. Proton Drive is the option here with documented Tor access as well as the provider’s end-to-end encryption claims; Internxt’s page points to an audit and other assurance claims; Tresorit documents a broad set of encrypted-sharing controls. Choose based on the risk you actually need to reduce, then verify account identity, payment, metadata, recovery, and assurance details directly before relying on any service.
