Those headline prices do not buy equivalent hardware, and Hetzner’s regular AX42-1 is over budget. Compare the exact configuration and checkout total for your region before choosing.
Which dedicated servers are listed below $100 per month?
These are rented bare-metal services, not physical servers to buy. The OVHcloud figures are starting prices for broad product tiers; they do not establish that the entry price includes every specification listed for that tier. Hetzner’s sub-$100 prices apply to specific limited configurations, not its regular AX42-1.

What is the cheapest dedicated server under $100 a month?
The lowest quoted entry price in these official listings is Kimsufi at $11.10 per month. That makes it a low starting point, not a like-for-like winner: the available CPU, memory, storage, and location matter, and the starting price does not promise a high-capacity configuration. Kimsufi’s Linux page also advertises root access, free OS reinstall, anti-DDoS, and included traffic; it warns that country or region can affect price and availability. So You Start and Rise also have listed starting prices below $100, while Hetzner’s two cited sub-$100 options are limited-price SKUs. No market-wide comparison establishes that any of these is the cheapest provider overall.
How to compare the real cost and configuration
Before ordering, compare the server model actually offered in your location, not just the family name or starting price. Use the checkout total for your region to capture recurring and one-time charges.

- Total cost: Add the monthly charge, setup fee, tax or VAT, IPv4, and any storage or network add-ons. Hetzner explicitly excludes VAT and IPv4 from the cited prices; its limited AX41-1-LTD and EX44-1-LTD entries show no setup fee, while regular AX42-1 shows a $59 setup fee. Kimsufi notes that location can affect price and availability.
- Compute and memory: Check the processor model and generation, physical core and thread details, RAM capacity and type. Broad tier ranges alone do not establish a server’s performance.
- Storage: Confirm whether the drive is HDD, SSD, or NVMe, its usable capacity, and whether redundancy or backups are included. A backup is not a substitute for redundant primary storage.
- Network: Compare public port speed, traffic policy, private networking, and the data-center location relative to users. A stated port speed does not by itself describe every network or traffic condition.
- Service and availability: Verify current stock, deployment timing, support, SLA, console and reinstall controls, and DDoS coverage against the exact plan.
Which server fits your workload?
Web development, staging, and small services
A low-cost Kimsufi configuration may be worth considering when the application’s CPU, memory, and disk needs are modest and you are comfortable administering a bare-metal machine. Select based on the exact SKU rather than the tier’s maximum range. The provider’s page advertises root access and free OS reinstall, useful controls when you manage the operating system yourself. Compute, databases, and containers
Prioritize the actual processor, RAM amount, and storage I/O characteristics. More cores or a larger RAM range on a tier page does not prove that its lowest-priced server has those resources. Kimsufi’s buying guidance recommends matching CPU and RAM to workload and choosing SSD or NVMe when disk I/O matters; no independent benchmark is available here to rank these providers’ performance. Archives and backups
For large, infrequently accessed data, HDD capacity may be more important than fast random I/O. Kimsufi’s guidance identifies HDD storage as an option for large archives and backups. Check the precise drive type and capacity, and keep a separate backup plan rather than treating server storage as its own backup.
Are dedicated servers under $100 available in the US?
The cited official listings do not establish which of these configurations are currently available in the United States. Kimsufi explicitly says region can affect price and availability, and the cited Hetzner material associates the regular AX42 listing with Falkenstein and Helsinki. Use the provider’s regional catalog or order flow to verify both location and inventory before treating a price as a US option.

Are Hetzner’s under-$100 prices dependable?
They are offers tied to named limited configurations, not a general price for Hetzner dedicated servers. Hetzner says limited offers depend on hardware procurement costs, may take several weeks to become meaningfully available, and last only while supply remains. Its regular AX42-1 is listed at $117.10 per month with a $59 setup fee, before VAT and IPv4, so it does not meet the monthly threshold. Is a cheap dedicated server worth it compared with a VPS?
A dedicated server can make sense when you need the specific bare-metal configuration offered and can manage the server. But the listed prices alone cannot settle the comparison: they do not establish a matching VPS configuration, performance advantage, or administration cost. A dedicated machine also requires server administration, and no quantified labor-cost comparison is available. Compare the resources and service terms you actually need against a VPS quote, including setup, tax, IP addressing, backups, and your own time.
