Verdict: Paleblue’s Voyager AAA is most compelling when you want a rechargeable 1.5V AAA with USB-C charging built into each cell, rather than the separate charger used by typical NiMH batteries. Its price is a premium, and neither broad device compatibility nor the manufacturer’s 1,000-plus recharge-cycle claim has been independently established. One reviewer measured an average 777 mAh in its sample and reported a clock-setting problem in one radio-controlled alarm clock. Check your device requirements before choosing it.
What the Paleblue Voyager AAA offers
Paleblue sells the Voyager AAA in four-, eight- and 12-cell packs. On its product page, accessed October 7, 2026, the page showed a price of $24.99; prices and availability can change. The four-pack listing includes one charging cable, the eight-pack two cables and the 12-pack three. Paleblue also says each battery purchase includes a travel case made from GRS-certified post-consumer recycled plastic. See the Paleblue Voyager AAA product page for current pack details.
| Specification | Paleblue’s published figure |
|---|---|
| Capacity | 1,125 mWh |
| Voltage | 1.5V nominal; 1.0–1.6V listed range |
| Recharge life | 1,000+ cycles, a manufacturer claim |
| Charging time | 60 minutes to 80%; 78 minutes to full charge |
| Output | 2.5A maximum continuous; 4.0A peak for up to three seconds |
| Charging input | USB-C, 5V and 100–530mA |
| Chemistry | Lithium-ion (NMC613 + LFP) |
| Size and weight | 10.2 × 44 mm; 7.5 g ± 0.5 g |
| Temperature range | 10–45°C operating; 0–55°C charging |
These are Paleblue’s published specifications, not independent verification of runtime, charging time, or long-term cycle life. The company also lists over-temperature, under-temperature, under-voltage, over-voltage, short-circuit, overcurrent and leakage protections.
What independent testing found
A New Edge Times review dated September 23, 2026 reports testing a Voyager AAA sample with an XTAR VX4 battery tester. The reviewer measured an average capacity of 777 mAh and a starting voltage of 1.52V. These are that reviewer’s sample results, not Paleblue’s specifications or a guarantee of what another battery or device will deliver. The review describes testing in real-life appliances and reports one compatibility exception: a radio-controlled alarm clock could not set its time automatically. The reviewer attributed the problem to interference from the battery’s voltage-control electronics. Read the New Edge Times review for its account of the test.
In the same reviewer’s comparison, Amazon Basics Rechargeable AAA cells rated 800 mAh measured 847 mAh. That constant-drain comparison does not establish which battery lasts longer in every device, or how either performs in storage. The reviewer specifically notes that its test does not represent low-discharge storage behavior and suggests Paleblue may retain charge better in low-drain use; treat that as the reviewer’s interpretation, not a settled general ranking.
Will it work in your device?
Paleblue says the Voyager is designed for devices that use standard single-use alkaline AAA batteries. Its 1.5V nominal output and intended alkaline-like, gradually softening discharge curve may be useful in equipment that behaves poorly with conventional 1.2V NiMH cells. Paleblue says the curve is intended to provide a low-battery warning before exhaustion, but this should be treated as a design claim rather than a result established across devices.
Rank #2
- Charges via USB-C for convenient charging at home or on the go. True 1.5V output with a new voltage profile that outperforms alkaline batteries and improves compatibility. 1,000+ recharge cycles per battery, replacing over 50lbs of single-use batteries LED ring indicator shows charge status at a glance Pays for themselves. One set replaces drawers full of disposables, for a fraction of the cost long-term
Compatibility is not universal. Paleblue recommends checking the device manual, and the reported clock-setting issue is a practical example of how voltage-control electronics can affect sensitive equipment. For a critical device, consult its manual and verify operation yourself before relying on the battery. Paleblue lists remotes, tea lights, headlamps, RC vehicles, wireless microphones and industrial electronics as common AAA applications; those examples are not independent test results for every product in those categories.

Charging convenience and trade-offs
Each Voyager cell has its own USB-C charging port, and the pack includes cables with multiple connectors according to the pack size. That setup can remove the need for a separate battery charger in the intended workflow. Paleblue lists 60 minutes to reach 80% charge and 78 minutes to reach full charge; those are manufacturer figures.
The available product information does not establish compatibility with every USB-C cable, power adapter or third-party battery charger. Follow Paleblue’s current charging instructions rather than assuming any charger or cable combination is appropriate. If you already own a NiMH charger and spare cells, compare that established setup with the convenience of charging each Voyager cell directly.
How it compares with alkaline and NiMH AAA batteries
| Factor | Paleblue Voyager AAA | Alkaline AAA | NiMH rechargeable AAA |
|---|---|---|---|
| Voltage behavior | Paleblue lists 1.5V nominal and an alkaline-like discharge design. Device compatibility still needs checking. | Single-use alkaline is the behavior Paleblue says Voyager is designed to emulate. | Conventional NiMH is typically 1.2V nominal; a device sensitive to that difference may behave differently. |
| Capacity evidence here | Paleblue lists 1,125 mWh; one reviewer measured 777 mAh on its sample. These figures are not directly interchangeable. | No comparable capacity measurement is established in the sources cited here. | One reviewer measured 847 mAh for Amazon Basics Rechargeable AAA 800mAh cells in its comparison test. |
| Charging | USB-C port on each cell; pack includes cables. | Not rechargeable. | Typically charged in a separate battery charger. |
| Cycle-life evidence | Paleblue claims 1,000+ recharges; independent cycle-life verification is not established here. | Not rechargeable. | No comparable cycle-life figure is established in the sources cited here. |
| Price comparison | The product page showed $24.99 when accessed October 7, 2026; compare the current pack price and per-cell cost. | No comparable price is established in the sources cited here. | No comparable price is established in the sources cited here. |
The capacity numbers require care: Paleblue’s 1,125 mWh is an energy rating, while the reviewer’s 777 mAh and 847 mAh figures are capacity measurements. Without a shared test protocol and device load, they do not produce a dependable runtime comparison. Likewise, a battery’s runtime depends on the device and how it is used; these sources do not establish a fixed runtime.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone.Does the price make sense?
The value depends on how often you use AAA cells, whether 1.5V behavior matters to your device, and whether integrated USB-C charging is more useful to you than a shared NiMH charger. Compare the current cost per cell with the alternatives you would otherwise buy, then weigh that against your actual replacement and charging routine. Paleblue’s 1,000-plus-cycle rating could matter for frequent use, but it is a company claim rather than an independently demonstrated lifespan in the available evidence. For occasional use, the premium may be harder to justify; for regularly recharged cells, charging convenience and device behavior may carry more weight.
Returns and warranty
Paleblue’s product page states that orders can be returned within 30 days of receipt. Its limited lifetime warranty terms cover qualifying battery purchases made from Paleblue or authorized retailers on or after September 15, 2022, provided the purchase is registered. The warranty concerns manufacturer defects and excludes misuse, ordinary wear, neglect and certain adverse environmental conditions. Shipping for a replacement may be charged, and Paleblue may choose a refund, replacement or store credit for a valid claim. Check the current terms before buying.
