To remove Briefing from your Galaxy home screen, open the home-screen editor, go to the far-left page, and switch the page off. The label may instead be Flipboard, Bixby Home, Samsung Daily, Samsung Free, or Google Discover, depending on your phone and software. This hides the home-screen panel; it does not necessarily uninstall an app.
Turn off Briefing on an older Galaxy
On older Galaxy phones, the news page may be labeled Briefing, Flipboard, or Bixby. Samsung’s instructions for Android 6.x, 7.x, and 8.x use these steps:
- Touch and hold an empty area of the home screen.
- Swipe through the home-screen previews to the far-left news page.
- Switch off the Briefing, Flipboard, or Bixby option shown on that page.
- Return to the home screen.
For Android 4.x and 5.x, Samsung’s legacy instructions instead say to open Home screen settings from the home-screen edit view and switch off My Magazine or Briefing Flipboard. These older routes may not match newer Galaxy phones. See Samsung’s legacy Briefing instructions.

The far-left page has changed names over time. Samsung says Bixby Home became Samsung Daily with the One UI 2.1 update, and Samsung Free replaced Samsung Daily starting with Android 11. On supported phones, the page is managed from the home-screen editor:

- Swipe to the far-left page.
- Use the switch or page control to turn off Samsung Daily, Samsung Free, or Google Discover, depending on the option shown.
Samsung’s current US guidance covers switching Samsung Free or Google Discover on or off, while its general home-screen instructions also describe removing an unwanted home-screen page with the trash icon. The available labels and controls can vary by model, region, carrier, and software version. Consult Samsung’s instructions for Samsung Free and Google Discover if the page differs from these steps.
What “delete Briefing” does—and does not do
Turning off the far-left page removes it from the home screen. It does not establish that the related content app has been uninstalled. Google distinguishes removing an app shortcut from uninstalling the app: removing the shortcut takes it off the home screen, but does not itself uninstall the app. See Google’s Android Help on adding apps, shortcuts, and widgets.

If you want to uninstall or disable a separate app rather than hide the panel, the available controls depend on your exact Galaxy model and software version; there is no universal uninstall method established here.

Check the name before changing the setting
Samsung has used several names for left-side content pages across device generations. Bixby Home presented content from apps; later generations used Samsung Daily and Samsung Free, while current home-screen guidance also covers Google Discover. These names identify options found on different phones and software versions, not one setting that appears identically on every Galaxy. Samsung’s UK overview describes Bixby Home and its app content; Samsung Korea explains the Samsung Daily and Samsung Free naming changes in its support information.

If you mean Galaxy AI Now Brief
Galaxy AI Now Brief is distinct from the older Briefing or left-side news page. Do not assume that switching off the home-screen panel disables Now Brief. The Samsung support material cited above does not establish a universal Now Brief disable path; check the Galaxy AI settings on your phone for controls specific to that feature.
