There is no single best technographic data provider for every B2B campaign. Start with the evidence you need: BuiltWith and Wappalyzer focus on technologies visible on websites; HG Insights adds enterprise technology and IT-spend context; TheirStack surfaces technologies mentioned in job postings. ZoomInfo, 6sense, and Demandbase place technology signals inside broader sales or ABM workflows. The right shortlist depends on whether those signals match your target accounts and can be checked against evidence you trust.

Which technographic provider fits your use case?

Technographic data describes a company’s inferred use of software, hardware, or services. Providers gather those signals in different ways, so asking the same question—such as which companies use a particular CRM—can produce different account lists. The table is a use-case guide, not an accuracy ranking: the reviewed comparisons are documentation-based, not hands-on tests of vendor databases.

Provider Best fit Signal or workflow Pricing reported in 2026 comparisons
BuiltWith Building prospect lists around website technologies, including ecommerce and historical web signals Crawls and fingerprints public websites; offers lookup, list, and API workflows. Useful for web-visible technologies, not a complete inventory of internal systems. TechnologyAdvice’s September 30, 2026 comparison lists free individual lookups or $2,950 per year. BestIntentDataProviders.com’s September 2, 2026 comparison reports $295 per month for Basic. The figures conflict; confirm current plans and billing directly with BuiltWith.
Wappalyzer Website technology checks, developer-oriented API use, and lists Detects website-visible signals. A browser extension check of one site is a different workflow from building a prospect list. TechnologyAdvice’s September 30, 2026 comparison lists $2,500 per year. BestIntentDataProviders.com’s September 2, 2026 comparison describes a free extension and paid tiers without establishing a comparable price. Confirm plan scope and billing with Wappalyzer.
HG Insights Enterprise technology intelligence and IT-spend or contract context Combines installation signals with public documents and other information, reaching beyond what a website crawl can reveal. Spend estimates do not prove approved budget. TechnologyAdvice’s September 30, 2026 comparison reports a $22,000-per-year starting tier and says listed plans use two-year terms. BestIntentDataProviders.com’s September 2 comparison reports custom annual pricing. Confirm the current quote and term with HG Insights.
TheirStack Targeting based on technologies mentioned in hiring, and API workflows Job postings can expose backend or internal tools that are not visible on a company website. A mention is indirect evidence, not confirmation of an active installation. TechnologyAdvice’s September 30, 2026 comparison reports free access or $109 per month. Verify current plan, credits, and billing with TheirStack.
ZoomInfo Teams that want technology filters alongside contacts, company context, and prospecting Technographics are part of a broader sales-intelligence platform. TechnologyAdvice says access is paid and API or integration availability depends on package. Custom quote in TechnologyAdvice’s September 30, 2026 comparison. It also lists a limited free Lite entry point with 10 monthly credits; that figure does not establish technographic access. Confirm scope with ZoomInfo.
6sense Technology signals within predictive account prioritization and ABM Uses technology as one input in a wider account-prioritization and engagement workflow. BestIntentDataProviders.com’s September 2, 2026 comparison reports custom pricing for paid plans. Confirm package access and terms with 6sense.
Demandbase Enterprise ABM segments and advertising activation BestIntentDataProviders.com describes partner-sourced, account-level technographics within Demandbase One. Check that the fields and coverage you need are included. Custom pricing reported by BestIntentDataProviders.com on September 2, 2026; confirm field availability and contract terms with Demandbase.
Datanyze Smaller teams seeking technology lookup alongside contact lookup Browser extension and website-crawl signals with contact data; the comparison does not position it as a list engine at BuiltWith scale. BestIntentDataProviders.com’s September 2, 2026 comparison reports a free trial and Nyze Pro at approximately $21 per month, billed annually. This is a dated third-party figure; verify it with Datanyze.
HubSpot Breeze Intelligence (Clearbit lineage) HubSpot users enriching CRM records Clearbit data is described as integrated into Breeze Intelligence, with credit-based enrichment inside HubSpot. Credit-based add-on; current HubSpot plans and credit terms were not established in the comparisons. Check the current HubSpot offer.

Pricing above is a record of what the named third-party comparisons reported, not a set of verified current vendor quotes. Package, credits, seats, contract length, and billing period can change what a figure means.

What can technographic data actually tell you?

Website crawlers: strong for public web traces

Tools such as BuiltWith and Wappalyzer look for signals exposed by websites, such as scripts, tags, content-management-system footprints, or hosted forms. That makes them relevant when the technology itself leaves a public web trace. It makes them a poor way to inventory software that operates behind a login or within a company’s internal infrastructure.

Documents and job postings: useful clues, not installation proof

Public documents and job listings may name internal platforms that a web crawler cannot see. But a job ad can be old, describe a desired skill rather than a current deployment, or refer to a tool used by a particular team. Likewise, a document mentioning a system does not by itself show that the company still uses it or is about to buy more.

Enterprise and ABM platforms: technology in a wider workflow

HG Insights focuses on enterprise technology intelligence and related context, including IT-spend estimates. ZoomInfo, 6sense, and Demandbase offer technographic signals within broader prospecting, account-prioritization, or ABM environments. Those bundles may reduce workflow friction when a team already uses the platform, but confirm which fields and integrations the purchased package actually includes.

BuiltWith says it analyzes publicly accessible websites and observable internet signals, and does not access password-protected areas or restricted systems. Its policy describes the service as primarily focused on company-level website technology insights. That statement applies to BuiltWith’s described practices; it does not establish how other providers collect data or settle a buyer’s own legal, notice, or use obligations.

How to choose and validate a provider

  1. Specify the technology and expected evidence. If it should appear in site HTML, scripts, headers, or DNS, begin with website fingerprinting. For an internal or back-office system, investigate sources such as public documents, job postings, or other evidence the vendor can explain.
  2. Define what “currently uses” means for your campaign. Ask for observation dates, install and removal history, confidence indicators, and how the provider distinguishes a live signal from an old mention. The comparisons do not establish a shared freshness standard across providers.
  3. Test the geography and account types you plan to target. Compare results for your priority countries, industries, and company sizes. The reviewed material does not provide a controlled market-by-market coverage comparison, so a general coverage claim cannot replace a sample from your own target market.
  4. Check the workflow, not just the data field. Decide whether you need a CSV or API export, CRM enrichment, contacts, corporate hierarchy, intent, or ABM activation. Compare the incremental value with the subscriptions and systems your team already has.
  5. Validate representative records before scaling. Build a sample of known customers and prospects, along with companies believed not to use the technology. Inspect matches and non-matches, evidence type, dates, and geography. The comparisons reviewed here do not provide an independent cross-provider accuracy benchmark.
  6. Separate fit from timing. A technology match can suggest account fit; it does not establish that a company is shopping now. If timing matters, assess an intent signal separately and validate it rather than treating it as the same evidence.

How to compare two shortlisted providers

Compare the dimensions that can change the account list or the work required to use it. No reliable single score in the reviewed comparisons weights these factors for every buyer.

  • Signal source and observability: What data produces a match, and could that source plausibly reveal the technology you are targeting?
  • Relevant breadth and depth: Does the provider cover your specific technologies and the level of detail your campaign needs?
  • Evidence and recency: Can you inspect the signal, when it was observed, and any install or removal context?
  • Geography and company profile: How do results hold up for your target countries, industries, and company sizes?
  • Delivery and integration: Are exports, APIs, CRM enrichment, and activation options available in the package you would buy?
  • Bundle and total cost: Include contacts, intent, ABM functionality, seats, credits, and contract terms—not just the quoted entry price.

What accuracy claims can buyers rely on?

The material behind these comparisons does not establish a sourced, independently controlled accuracy rate or campaign-lift figure that applies across providers. TechnologyAdvice’s September 30, 2026 guide says its recommendations reflect comparative research rather than hands-on database testing, and cautions that database size does not establish accuracy. A provider’s stated coverage or database size is therefore not a substitute for testing matches against accounts you know.

Use a buyer-side sample to answer the practical question: are the records sufficiently traceable, recent, and relevant in your target geography for this campaign? A provider can be useful for one evidence type or market and weak for another; do not treat a result from one category as a universal verdict on data quality.
