Yes, but crossplay depends on which Monster Hunter game and platform version you mean. Monster Hunter Wilds supports play across PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. Monster Hunter: World does not support crossplay between PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One. Monster Hunter Rise has compatibility within certain platform groups, not across every release.

Can you play Monster Hunter Wilds with a friend on another platform?
Yes. Capcom announced crossplay for Wilds on PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC, so players on those platforms can play together. Crossplay is not a platform-by-platform allow list: each player chooses whether to enable it, and everyone needs compatible settings to join one another across platforms.

Enable crossplay in Wilds
- At the title screen, open Options > Game Settings > Crossplay.
- Set Crossplay to enabled on each player’s game. When enabled, you can join players on other platforms who also have it enabled.
- If it is disabled, you can join only players on the same platform who also have crossplay disabled.
Capcom’s manual says a malfunction or security issue may temporarily restrict play to the same platform. Online play may also require a paid platform subscription. For PS5, PlayStation says PS Plus is required for online multiplayer; check the current terms and requirements for your platform and region.
Can PS5 and Xbox players play Monster Hunter together?
They can in Wilds, provided both players have crossplay enabled. For World, the answer is no: the PC, PS4, and Xbox One versions do not share crossplay. For Rise, the cited official information documents particular platform groups rather than every possible combination. Confirm the exact game and release before buying it to play with a friend.

Is Monster Hunter Rise cross-platform?
Not across every version. The PlayStation manual documents multiplayer compatibility among PS4, PS4 Pro, and PS5. Capcom’s platform FAQ separately identifies Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and Windows Store compatibility, while listing Steam separately. In particular, do not assume a Steam player can join someone using the Windows Store release; the cited FAQ does not establish that pairing.
For a Rise session, check the platform and PC storefront each person uses, not just the game title. The published compatibility information is platform-specific and does not establish all pairings in every region or edition.

Does crossplay mean cross-save?
No. Crossplay means players on different platforms can play together; cross-save or cross-progression means carrying a save or progress between platforms. Capcom says World save data is unique to each platform and cannot be transferred among its PC, PS4, and Xbox One versions. The cited sources do not establish Wilds‘ current cross-save policy, so do not treat its crossplay support as proof that progress transfers.
