New York Times Spelling Bee puzzles are released at 3 a.m. EST every day, according to the NYT Spelling Bee help page. The page uses “EST” and does not explain how the release time maps to daylight-saving time or to other time zones.
What time does the puzzle reset?
NYT states that a new puzzle is released at 3 a.m. EST every day of the week. This is the publisher’s stated schedule; the help page does not promise an exact-to-the-second availability time.
What does 3 a.m. EST mean where I live?
The help page labels the release time “EST” but does not clarify whether the schedule shifts during daylight-saving periods or give conversions for other regions. It is therefore safest to use NYT’s published time label rather than assume a year-round local or Eastern Time equivalent.

NYT lists three ways to access Spelling Bee: the NYT Games app, the NYT Spelling Bee page, and the Games section of the NYT News app. NYT says the full experience is available to New York Times Games, All Access, and Home Delivery subscribers; subscribers can also play past puzzles at any time. Spelling Bee is listed among the games on the NYT Games subscription page.

Each puzzle presents selected letters, and every valid word must include the center letter. NYT says each day’s word list is curated by an editor. That daily puzzle and word list change with the new release.
