To use Keeper Secure File Storage, attach a file to a vault record—or create a dedicated File Attachment record—then wait for the upload to finish and save the record. To get the file later, open the record and use the attachment’s download control. Do not rely on a file being backed up or available on another device until it has synced to Keeper’s cloud.

Choose where the file belongs

Keeper describes Secure File Storage as a way to keep confidential files, photos, and videos in your vault. It is listed as a Secure Add-on, and Keeper documents support for Web Vault, Desktop App, iOS, and Android. Availability and account entitlements can vary, so check your Keeper account’s current plan and add-on details.

  • Attach it to an existing record when the file belongs with related information, such as a document associated with a particular vault entry.
  • Create a File Attachment record when you want a standalone record for the file, particularly in the mobile apps.

Upload a file from Web Vault or Desktop App

  1. Open the record that should hold the file, or create a separate record.
  2. Edit the record and click Add Attachments to choose a file. You can also drag and drop a file into the vault.
  3. Wait for the upload to complete, then click Save.

Keeper’s Help Center lists a 100 MB per-file limit for Web Vault and up to 5 GB for Desktop App. These limits can change, and Keeper’s business feature page has also described a 100 MB attachment limit in its context. Check the current limit displayed for your platform and account before starting a large transfer.

Upload from iOS or Android

  1. Open the record you want to use, or create a record with the File Attachment type.
  2. Tap Add Files or Photos and select the file.
  3. Wait for the upload to finish. Confirm that it has synced before expecting it to appear in Keeper on another device.

Keeper’s Help Center lists a per-file limit of up to 5 GB on Android and iOS. Check the current in-app limit for your account before transferring a large file.

Check whether the upload has synced

A cloud icon with a line through it means the attachment has not finished uploading to Keeper’s cloud storage. Keeper says it is still stored locally on the device where it was added. Keep that device available, confirm it has an internet connection, and allow the upload to complete before treating the file as cloud-backed or expecting it on another device.

Security and availability considerations

Keeper says files are encrypted during upload and that the user holds the encryption key. Its guide describes 256-bit AES encryption with record-level keys. These are Keeper’s descriptions of its product, not an independent security audit. Secure File Storage is identified by Keeper as a Secure Add-on; check current plan details rather than assuming a particular consumer plan includes it.
