To lock a supported Samsung Galaxy Watch, open Settings > Security and privacy > Lock type, choose a PIN or pattern, and follow the prompts. Samsung says the watch automatically locks when it is removed or restarted. If the watch is missing, you can try locking it remotely in Galaxy Wearable, provided remote connection was enabled.
Set a PIN or pattern on the watch

On the watch, open Settings > Security and privacy > Lock type.

Choose PIN or Pattern and follow the on-screen prompts. For a PIN, Samsung’s Singapore guide directs you to tap Set PIN, enter the digits, tap the arrow, and enter the PIN again to confirm. A PIN must contain at least four digits; a pattern connects at least four dots. That regional guide also excludes consecutive or repeated PIN numbers.

Samsung’s guide lists None as the option to remove the screen lock. Labels and available options can vary by watch model, software version, and region. Samsung says, “When a screen lock is set, your Galaxy Watch will automatically lock when you remove the watch or restart it.” Samsung Singapore’s lock setup guide was updated August 28, 2026.

Lock a missing watch remotely
If the watch is lost, use the watch-specific flow in Galaxy Wearable: open Find my watch > Set security > Lock watch. Samsung says remote controls require remote connection to have been enabled. Depending on phone support and region, the finding flow may redirect to Samsung Find or SmartThings Find; menu paths and available services can differ. Samsung’s general U.S. guidance for locating phones and tablets lists additional service conditions: the device must be on, connected to a stable network, linked to a Samsung account, and have remote controls enabled. Because that page is not watch-specific, check the Galaxy Wearable flow and instructions for your model rather than assuming every condition or path applies identically. Check Wallet protection separately
A remote screen lock does not necessarily lock Samsung Wallet. Samsung warns that on some watch models the remote Lock option locks the watch screen but not Wallet. Check the Wallet-specific controls for your model; if you cannot secure a payment card, contact its issuer promptly. If you forgot the PIN or pattern
Samsung’s stated remedy for a forgotten watch PIN or pattern is to reset the watch; its guidance does not specify an unlock bypass or data-preserving recovery. Back up through Galaxy Wearable first if you can, because a reset returns the watch to default settings and may erase data. Follow the reset instructions for your model. Afterward, reconnect the watch through Galaxy Wearable and check for software updates. If you cannot complete the reset, contact Samsung support. Samsung U.S.: forgotten Galaxy Watch password.

Which lock should you use?

A reset is recovery for a forgotten code, not an alternative locking method; it can erase data.
