You can run Uniswap Labs’ current browser interface locally from its official Uniswap/interface repository with Bun and the Node.js version specified in .nvmrc. The documented command is bun web dev, which starts the development server on port 3000 by default. The current web setup instructions explain local startup, but do not document how to configure the app for a testnet or confirm support for a particular network.
What this setup does—and does not do
The current Uniswap interface repository is a monorepo containing more than the browser app. For local browser development, follow the instructions for apps/web, not instructions for the mobile wallet, extension, or an older interface. The repository-level overview is at Uniswap/interface; the web-specific steps are in its apps/web README.
Starting the web app locally and connecting it to a testnet are separate tasks. The current web README documents how to run the development server, but does not specify a testnet selection procedure, required configuration values, or the contracts and services needed for a testnet connection. Consequently, these instructions can get the current web frontend running on your computer, but they do not establish that it will connect to Sepolia or another testnet.

Clone the official repository. Its root quick start gives
git clone git@github.com:Uniswap/interface.git. This SSH form requires GitHub SSH access to be configured. The repository is also available at github.com/Uniswap/interface.#1 Best Overall

Use the Node.js version pinned by the repository’s
.nvmrc. With nvm installed, runnvm usefrom the repository directory. Check the current file rather than relying on a version number copied from an older guide. -
Install dependencies with Bun:
bun install. -
Start the web development server with

The repository root also lists bun web start in its quick start, but for the web app’s documented development-server workflow, use the web README’s bun web dev command. The web README describes a Vite-based setup with experimental Rolldown support; that implementation detail does not change the documented local-development command.

Keep the default port unless you have a reason to change it
The web README warns that using a port other than 3000 may cause CORS errors with certain Uniswap Backend services. If the app fails to reach a backend after you change the port, return to the default before troubleshooting other settings. The README does not provide a testnet-specific port configuration or a workaround that would make a different port appropriate for every backend service.

Testnet configuration is not documented in the current web setup
The current web README does not say which testnets the app supports or how to select one for local development. It also does not document environment variables for a testnet RPC endpoint or chain ID. A mention of chain or testnet concepts in the repository’s package manifest is not, by itself, a user-facing configuration guide.
Do not add REACT_APP_CHAIN_ID or REACT_APP_NETWORK_URL to the current app on the assumption that they configure it. Those variables appear in the README for the separate legacy Uniswap V1 interface. That older guide is relevant only if you are deliberately working with that V1 codebase; it does not establish that the same variables work in today’s apps/web.

If your goal specifically requires Sepolia or another testnet, first verify the current app’s network and configuration guidance in the official web repository for the revision you are running. Without that guidance, the supported network and connection procedure are not established here; do not treat a successful local server start as proof of testnet connectivity.
Local browser settings are separate by origin
The official Uniswap interface releases page says the interface stores settings such as imported tokens in browser localStorage. Settings are not shared across different URLs, so a local development address, the hosted app, and an IPFS gateway can have separate saved settings. The releases page recommends an IPFS gateway that enforces origin separation or using the hosted app.

Why older setup instructions may not match
Uniswap maintainers noted in a 2025 repository issue that local-development guidance and the contribution guide had been updated. That history is a reason to use the current README rather than copy old setup snippets. In particular, instructions for a legacy V1 repository should not be presented as configuration for the current web app.
