A defensible gas optimization audit of the Venus Core Pool needs a specific code revision, deployment, and set of measured transactions. The available Venus materials establish where the code and gas-reporting command are, but they do not document an executed audit, a measured saving, or a bottleneck. This article sets out what can be established and what a reproducible audit must measure.
What can be concluded about this audit?
The title, “Gas Optimization Audit: Venus Core Pool,” does not identify a commit, contracts, transaction traces, or a benchmark baseline. Without those details, there is no basis for attributing a gas reduction, bottleneck, or specific optimization to this audit. The evidence establishes audit context—not fresh audit findings.
Venus’s official code repository is VenusProtocol/venus-protocol. Any reproducible conclusion should identify the exact commit examined. Findings also need to be limited to the deployment and architecture actually measured.

Venus documentation distinguishes Core Pool deployments by network and architecture. The cited vToken reference applies to BNB Chain Core Pool markets and notes that Core Pools on several other networks use a different BeaconProxy VToken architecture from the isolated-pools repository. An audit of BNB Chain markets therefore cannot automatically be generalized to those other deployments.

Before comparing gas results, identify the network, contracts, and code revision. The result should describe the deployment tested, rather than treating “Venus Core Pool” as one identical implementation everywhere.

A useful comparison measures equivalent successful transaction paths under consistent conditions. The report should include enough context for another reviewer to reproduce and interpret the result:

- Target: exact commit, contracts, chain or network, and relevant deployment architecture.
- Build: compiler version and build configuration.
- Scenarios: representative operations, their initial state, and whether each result comes from an isolated unit test or a realistic integration or fork scenario.
- Comparison: baseline and proposed implementation measured through equivalent paths using the same method.
- Impact: gas per operation, and any effect on deployed bytecode or storage layout.
- Trade-offs: correctness, upgradeability, and security implications of each proposed change.
Execution gas and the user’s transaction cost are not interchangeable: cost implications require the relevant network conditions as well as the measured gas. No gas-saving percentage or named benchmark is available to report for this audit.
What does Venus say about E-Mode and gas efficiency?
Venus’s E-Mode documentation describes E-Mode as a feature for the BNB Chain Core Pool with pool-specific risk settings. It says: “This architecture ensures flexibility, backward compatibility, and gas efficiency, while giving users higher borrowing efficiency and better risk isolation.” This is Venus’s qualitative product statement; the passage supplies no measured gas saving and should not be treated as an independent audit result.

Do historical Venus audits establish a gas audit of the current Core Pool?
No. The Venus security index lists audits tied to defined features or upgrades, including the Core Pool Diamond Comptroller upgrade and the TwoKinks interest rate model. Those entries are historical evidence of reviews with specified scopes, auditors, and reports. They do not establish that the current Core Pool received a comprehensive gas audit or provide findings for the audit named here.
