To delete an app’s data from iCloud on an iPhone or iPad, open Settings, tap your name, then iCloud and Storage or Manage Account Storage. Select the app and use the delete-data option shown. If you mean data included in an iCloud device backup, open Backups, select the device, and turn off that app instead. These actions are different from deleting the app or its local files from the device.
First, identify which app data you want to remove
“App data in iCloud” can mean synced app data, an app’s contribution to an iCloud device backup, or files stored locally on your iPhone or iPad. Choose the route that matches the data you intend to remove:

Third-party app data can include documents, projects, notes, game progress, or favourites. It may appear in iCloud storage management even if the app does not have a visible folder in iCloud Drive. Apple says users can see how much iCloud storage a third-party app uses and delete that data in iCloud settings: Keep third-party app data up to date on all your Apple devices with iCloud.

- Open Settings on your iPhone or iPad.
- Tap your name at the top of the screen, then tap iCloud.
- Tap Storage or Manage Account Storage. The wording can vary by software version.
- Find and tap the app whose data you want to remove. Check the app name and any data details shown.
- Choose the displayed option to delete the app’s iCloud data, then confirm only if you are sure you no longer need it.
Before confirming, save or export anything you want to keep. Apps that sync data through iCloud can keep that information current across your Apple devices; removing the iCloud data may affect what the app can access on your other devices signed in to the same Apple Account. Apple recommends archiving or making copies of iCloud information before deleting it: Archive or make copies of the information you store in iCloud.

Remove an app’s data from an iCloud device backup
If the app appears under a device backup, use its backup entry rather than the general app-storage entry:
- Go to Settings > your name > iCloud > Storage or Manage Account Storage.
- Tap Backups, then select the iPhone or iPad whose backup you want to change.
- Find the app and turn off its backup entry. Review the confirmation message before proceeding.
Apple says turning off an app’s backup removes that app’s information from iCloud and stops including it in that device’s iCloud Backup. Some apps are always backed up and cannot be turned off. Deleting the entire device backup is broader: it removes that backup and turns off iCloud Backup for the device. Apple’s instructions are in Manage your iCloud storage.

Apple says an iCloud backup remains available for 180 days after iCloud Backup is disabled or stopped. This is a backup-retention period, not a recovery window for every kind of app data; consult Apple’s iCloud storage guidance before changing backup settings.
Delete app files stored in iCloud Drive
If the app saves files in iCloud Drive, you may see an app-named folder in the Files app. Deleting a file or folder there removes it from iCloud Drive on devices that use that iCloud Drive. This is a file deletion, not the same as removing an app’s storage entry or excluding the app from an iCloud device backup.

Deleted iCloud Drive files may remain in Recently Deleted for 30 days. Apple’s guidance explains recovery and permanent deletion options, including removing items sooner through iCloud.com: Delete files in iCloud Drive. Files deleted from other apps may be managed through Data Recovery.

Use Settings > General > iPhone Storage or iPad Storage for local device storage. Offloading an app frees space used by the app while retaining its documents and data on the device. Deleting the app removes the app and related local data. Neither action is a substitute for deleting the app’s iCloud data or changing its iCloud Backup settings.
