To change mouse pointer speed in Windows 11, open Settings > Bluetooth & devices > Mouse and move the Mouse pointer speed slider. You do not need to open Mouse Properties for this adjustment; that dialog contains separate pointer behavior options.
Change mouse pointer speed in Windows 11 Settings
- Open Start > Settings, or press Windows key + I.
- Select Bluetooth & devices > Mouse.
- Move the Mouse pointer speed slider to adjust how quickly the pointer moves. Microsoft documents this slider as the control for pointer speed in its Change mouse settings instructions.
Microsoft does not prescribe a universally ideal slider position. Move it in small increments and check whether pointer movement suits your work and screen setup.
Open Mouse Properties for other pointer options
To get to the classic Mouse Properties dialog, stay on Settings > Bluetooth & devices > Mouse. Under Related settings, expand the section if needed, then select Additional mouse settings. In the dialog, open the Pointer Options tab.

How Pointer Options differ from speed
- Mouse pointer speed: The slider on the Mouse settings page changes pointer movement speed.
- Enhance pointer precision: A separate behavior option; Microsoft describes it as improving accuracy when the mouse moves slowly.
- Display pointer trails and Hide pointer while typing: Visibility behaviors, not speed controls.
Some apps might not support Snap To, according to Microsoft’s mouse settings guidance.

Do not confuse pointer speed with Mouse Keys
Mouse Keys is an accessibility feature that moves the pointer with the numeric keypad. Its settings are at Settings > Accessibility > Mouse. Changing Mouse Keys speed affects that feature, not the regular mouse pointer speed slider.
