A single scheduled news bot can send eligible stories to Bluesky while reserving X posts for stories that meet a stricter source-quality threshold. In the example here, that rule selected five of 34 image-bearing, unique Renewable Energy stories from one day’s feed sample—not because X limits bots to five daily posts, but because posting links on X was priced at $0.200 per request when checked on October 7, 2026.
How the bot decides what to publish
The pattern starts with one feed and applies a sequence of filters before it calls either social platform. The example queries APITube for English-language Renewable Energy stories, uses publication, industry, image, and source-rank fields, and selects stories with share images. The API filter behavior described here is the publisher’s implementation account; it is not an independently verified specification of APITube’s current API.
- Fetch and filter: Select relevant English-language stories and require an image suitable for sharing.
- Deduplicate: Check both story URLs and normalized titles, then exclude stories already recorded from earlier runs.
- Limit each run: Set
MAX_PER_RUNto three and process eligible new stories in order. - Route by source rank: Publish eligible stories to Bluesky; send a story to X only when its source OpenPageRank (OPR) is at least six.
- Persist state: Store seen URLs and normalized titles so later scheduled runs do not republish the same story.
In the publisher’s sample, URL deduplication and the feed’s is_duplicate flag removed none of 270 raw items. Normalizing titles reduced those items to 252 unique headlines, revealing 18 repeats syndicated at different URLs. A URL-only check would have missed those title-level duplicates.
What’s actually slowing this PC down?

After the article’s selected filters and title uniqueness check, 34 stories remained. Of those, 23 had a source rank of at least five and five had a rank of at least six. The source-rank cutoff is an editorial routing choice: it controls which stories get the more selective, cost-sensitive X treatment, but it is not an objective measure of a story’s importance.

Why the example sends five stories a day to X
Five is the result of applying X_MIN_OPR = 6 to one Renewable Energy feed sample dated September 16, 2026. The publisher says it measured the feed on September 17. The 34 eligible stories and five stories at or above the threshold describe that particular sample, not a daily forecast, universal quota, or X platform limit.
The budget rationale is the cost of creating posts with URLs. X’s official pay-per-usage pricing page listed $0.015 per Post: Create request and $0.200 per Post: Create request with a URL when checked on October 7, 2026. X says prices can change, so check its current pricing documentation before estimating a live bot’s costs.

| Posting assumption | Calculation at the checked URL-post rate | Illustrative 30-day cost |
|---|---|---|
| All 34 sample stories each day | 34 × 30 days × $0.200 per URL post | $204 |
| Five stories each day, matching this sample’s OPR ≥ 6 count | 5 × 30 days × $0.200 per URL post | $30 |
These are arithmetic illustrations, not expected bills: they assume the same daily volume for 30 days, that every request is a URL post at the listed rate, and that the checked rate remains in effect. The sample’s 34 and five counts came from a single day; another feed or day could produce different totals. The $0.015 ordinary-post rate is not the relevant figure when a request includes a URL.
Scheduling without assuming exact-time delivery
The example runs on a 30-minute GitHub Actions schedule and also fetches a 24-hour window, alongside persistent deduplication state. The wider fetch window can help a later run encounter stories if a scheduled run is delayed, while stored state prevents already-published items from being sent again.

GitHub warns that scheduled Actions workflows can be delayed during periods of high load and, when load is sufficiently high, may be dropped. A scheduled workflow must also be on the repository’s default branch. Treat cron as a request to run periodically, not a guarantee that a post will be published at an exact minute. See GitHub’s schedule-event documentation for the current conditions.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone. What the reported run does—and does not—validate
The publisher reports that fetching, deduplication, and thumbnail preparation ran in the reported sample. It did not exercise live posting calls against Bluesky or X accounts. Treat the social SDK calls in the implementation as examples, not evidence of a validated end-to-end production bot. Before enabling a schedule, verify credentials and permissions and make a controlled first live post; do not assume a successful fetch proves publishing works.
