The Dell 14 Plus is a mainstream 14-inch Windows laptop best suited to everyday productivity, with Intel and AMD configurations that differ in screen, graphics, and sometimes ports. Reviews find capable performance and potentially strong battery life, but also recurring weaknesses in speakers and, on some versions, display quality. It is worth considering if you choose the right configuration at a competitive current price; it is a weaker fit if a premium screen, rich sound, or graphics-heavy performance is a priority.
What is the Dell 14 Plus?
The Dell 14 Plus is a conventional 14-inch clamshell laptop family. It is distinct from both the Dell 14 Plus 2-in-1 and the Dell Pro 14 Plus, so confirm the full product name when comparing listings. Dell’s product page identifies the laptop, but the specifications and prices discussed in reviews reflect particular markets and configurations, not a single universal model: Dell 14 Plus Laptop.
Independent reviews cover Intel DB14250 and AMD DB14255 versions. The name alone does not tell you which processor, screen, memory, storage, or port mix a retailer is selling. Treat the exact SKU—not the family name—as the product you are evaluating.

Is the Dell 14 Plus worth buying?
It can be a sensible choice for school, office work, browsing, video calls, and light content creation when its configuration and live price suit your needs. WIRED found its Intel review unit capable for those uses, while Windows Central reported smooth browsing, email, Office work, and light photo editing on an AMD unit. The AMD review also found graphics-heavy work a limitation. Those findings support an everyday-productivity verdict, not a claim that every model performs identically. The trade-off is that display quality and battery results vary with the reviewed model and test, while speakers are a more consistent weak point. Its plain, practical design may be fine for a work or study machine, but buyers who want a premium-feeling laptop should weigh the compromises rather than assume the Plus name means a high-end experience.
Configurations: compare the actual SKU
TechRadar’s review-era listings illustrate how different the family can be across regions. These examples are not confirmation of present inventory or current prices; check the seller’s exact listing and Dell’s regional product page before buying. TechRadar review.
| Review-era market/configuration | Processor and graphics | Memory and storage | Screen |
|---|---|---|---|
| US entry configuration | AMD Ryzen AI 5 340; Radeon 840M | 16 GB LPDDR5X; 512 GB SSD | FHD+, 300 nits, non-touch |
| UK entry configuration | Intel Core Ultra 7 256V; Intel Arc graphics | 16 GB LPDDR5X; 512 GB SSD | 2.5K, 300 nits, non-touch IPS |

For the Intel review configuration described by Tom’s Guide, the listed connections are two USB-C ports (one Thunderbolt 4), one USB-A, HDMI 2.1, and a 3.5 mm combo port; it also lists Wi-Fi 7 and Bluetooth 5.4. Do not assume those details apply to every regional or processor variant; verify the listing for the SKU you intend to buy. Tom’s Guide review.

Screen quality depends on the panel
Reviewers do not give one consistent verdict on the display because they assessed different units. WIRED measured a maximum brightness of 332 nits on its tested IPS screen and considered it solid. Laptop Mag judged its reviewed screen mediocre, while Windows Central criticized the FHD+ panel on its AMD model. These are evaluations of specific review units, not proof that every Dell 14 Plus screen is the same. Laptop Mag review.
Before ordering, check the resolution, touch support, refresh rate, and stated brightness for the exact configuration. If you work outdoors or need reliable color for photo and design work, a screen’s resolution alone is not enough to establish that it will meet your needs; the cited reviews do not establish a single family-wide color or outdoor-visibility result.
Battery life: reviewer tests are not directly interchangeable
Published results range from around seven hours to around 18 hours, but the figures come from different review units and methods. They should not be treated as a guaranteed runtime or as a controlled head-to-head comparison.

The spread is a reason to match a result to the configuration and conditions rather than choosing the largest number as your expected day-to-day runtime. Processor, panel, power settings, workload, and review method can all distinguish one result from another; the figures above do not establish how long a particular current retail SKU will last for you.

Productivity performance
The reviewed systems are aimed at ordinary productivity rather than demanding graphics workloads. WIRED describes its Intel model as suitable for school, office work, and light content creation. Windows Central found its AMD unit responsive for common tasks and light photo editing, but not a strong choice for graphics-heavy work. Integrated graphics capabilities differ between configurations, so check the processor and graphics listed for the exact SKU if your workload goes beyond everyday applications.
Speakers and webcam
Audio is a recurring concern: WIRED criticized the speakers, Laptop Mag described them as hollow, and Windows Central also called out poor bottom-firing speakers. WIRED criticized the webcam as well. If clear audio or video calls are central to your routine, review the relevant configuration’s camera and speaker experience rather than assuming the laptop’s general productivity performance covers those needs.
Design and controls
The design is basic rather than especially polished. Reviews also differ on tactile details such as the touchpad, so there is not enough agreement to make a universal claim about every unit’s feel. If build refinement or input feel is important to you, inspect the laptop in person where possible or consult a review of the precise configuration.
Quick Recap
Who should consider it—and who should look elsewhere?
- Consider it if you need a straightforward 14-inch Windows laptop for study or general productivity and can find a configuration with the screen, memory, storage, and ports you want at a competitive current price.
- Compare alternatives if screen quality is a priority, especially for color-sensitive work or frequent use in bright settings.
- Look elsewhere or test carefully if strong built-in speakers, a particularly polished design, or graphics-heavy gaming and creative work are central requirements.
What to check before you buy
- Confirm the product family. Make sure the listing is for the Dell 14 Plus clamshell, not the Dell 14 Plus 2-in-1 or Dell Pro 14 Plus.
- Read the full configuration. Verify processor and graphics, RAM, SSD capacity, screen resolution, brightness, touch support, and refresh rate; do not infer them from the model family name.
- Check regional ports and wireless details. Compare the retailer’s specifications with the exact regional SKU, particularly if you need Thunderbolt, HDMI, or USB-A.
- Compare price and availability now. Review-era prices and configurations can change, and the cited reviews do not establish a current offer. Confirm the SKU, stock, return terms, and price with the seller before checkout.
Product prices and availability are accurate as of the date/time indicated and are subject to change. Any price and availability information displayed on Amazon at the time of purchase will apply.
