When three teammates use different coding agents in the same repository, the repository may be shared while the reasoning behind its decisions remains scattered across individual agent sessions. In the product-authored account behind this title, Joxo is presented as a relay for sharing those decisions and handoffs—not as a replacement for Git or a way to automatically expose everyone’s local files.
Why a shared repository can still leave agents out of sync
Git can carry code, branches, and commits between teammates. It does not necessarily carry the conversation that led to a design choice or put that decision into another teammate’s active agent session. If one person tells an agent why a module must keep a particular boundary, a colleague’s agent may not know that explanation even when both people are working in the same repository.
The motivating scenario is three teammates using different coding agents on one project. Without a way to pass along decisions and work context, the team can find itself re-explaining architectural choices and reconstructing handoffs. Shared context matters because an agent that lacks the reason behind a change may repeat a rejected approach or miss the next step.
How Joxo’s relay and handoff model is described
In the author’s account, each computer runs a local MCP server, while a relay carries published team updates. These can include decisions, blockers, task changes, messages, and handoffs. The article says the relay does not store the repository, prompts, or transcripts. Those are product-author descriptions, not independently verified security or implementation findings.

The workflow is meant to move selected coordination context between people and their agent sessions while leaving each teammate with a local copy of the project. The official setup page describes connecting agent sessions across computers and sharing published updates, tasks, handoff notes, and summaries of shared computers or sessions. GitHub is optional, and each teammate uses their own local copy.
Joining a project and receiving earlier context
The article says a teammate joining a project receives earlier decisions on their first turn. That is a claim about the product’s intended behavior, not a result established by independent testing. The setup page describes pairing a selected project folder through a setup prompt.

Passing work through a handoff
The article describes a handoff as including a summary, next step, branch, and commit. It says the receiving agent checks that the referenced commit is present locally. That distinction is useful: the handoff can point to code through Git while carrying the explanation and next action through the relay.
Pairing does not mean file sharing
Pairing a project does not automatically upload its files or let teammates browse or edit them remotely. The official setup page says live access to files requires enabling Shared folders and setting permissions. The host computer must be online for that optional feature.

In practical terms, distinguish between coordination context and file access:
- Published coordination: updates, decisions, task information, and handoff notes described by the product.
- Project files: remain on each teammate’s local copy unless Shared folders are explicitly enabled and permissioned.
This makes pairing a different decision from granting access to a working folder. Teams should decide whether they need shared context only or also want permissioned live file access.

How updates are said to reach different agents
The article says Joxo installs agent-specific configuration and hooks or similar integrations so updates can enter an agent’s context. Where hooks are unavailable, it says the product relies on MCP instructions and a paced pull. It also describes a registry of 28 agents and says its configuration writers preserve existing files. These are claims in the product-authored article; the number of listed agents is not evidence that every client or integration has been independently validated.

What happens when a decision is replaced?
A commenter asked: “How does Joxo handle a session that already received a decision when it’s later superseded, and does the next delivery explicitly mark the old version as replaced?” In a reply, the Joxo account said replaced decisions remain in history marked as replaced, existing sessions are notified on their next update, and new sessions see only active decisions. That is the product account’s explanation; the article does not establish how this behavior performs in practice.
What to confirm before adopting it
Because the available account comes from the product’s author and software details can change, check the current setup and terms against your team’s needs before relying on the workflow. In particular, confirm:
- Whether your specific agent clients and versions are supported, and whether the integrations you need have been validated.
- Which information is published to the relay, and what retention, security, and service commitments apply. The sources here do not establish an independent security audit, retention policy, or service-level commitment.
- Whether pairing alone meets your needs or whether you intend to enable Shared folders and configure permissions.
- How handoffs, commit availability, and replaced decisions behave in your team’s actual project workflow.
- The current price and billing terms. The article reports a free trial followed by $15 per person per month, but the official setup material reviewed here does not separately confirm current pricing.
The product-authored article also says steady-state use is about four requests a minute per computer; treat that as an attributed estimate, not a promise of network use for every setup.
A sensible way to evaluate the workflow
Try it on a two-person project. Pick a small, non-sensitive repository, agree on one architectural decision, and pass a handoff that names a branch, commit, and next step. Check whether the second teammate’s agent receives the intended context, whether the commit exists in the teammate’s local copy, and whether the distinction between pairing and file sharing is clear to everyone involved. Avoid sharing sensitive material until you have reviewed the product’s current data-handling and security terms.
