Magento stores do not necessarily need a paid reporting extension: Adobe already provides native sales reports and a separate cloud-based Advanced Reporting service. Add an extension when those tools cannot answer your specific questions—such as sales by payment type, coupon, customer cohort, or custom calculated metric—or when you need a more tailored dashboard. The right choice depends on report coverage, definitions, compatibility with your exact Magento edition and version, and the vendor’s current pricing and support terms.

What Magento and Adobe provide before you buy an extension

Native sales reports

Adobe’s native sales reports can be generated for a website or an individual store. You select a reporting period and an order-status filter to populate the report. Check this baseline against your needs before assuming a separate product is necessary. See Adobe’s sales-report documentation.

Advanced Reporting through Commerce Intelligence

Adobe describes Advanced Reporting as a cloud-based service powered by Adobe Commerce Intelligence and says it is included with Adobe Commerce and Magento Open Source. Adobe also describes an account activated through Adobe as providing five dashboards and approximately 70 reports. That figure refers to the Commerce Intelligence account access Adobe documents; it should not be read as the number of reports available in every Magento installation. Details are in Adobe’s Commerce Intelligence documentation.

These are distinct capabilities: the native sales-report workflow is one starting point, while Advanced Reporting is a cloud-based service. Examples of questions in Adobe’s documentation include “How are my orders growing month-over-month?”, “Who are my most loyal customers?”, and “Is my coupon strategy working?” Treat these as useful examples of analysis questions, not a guarantee that a particular dashboard or report answers each one exactly as your business defines it.

Which sales questions should a reporting tool answer?

Start with decisions you need to make, then identify the data breakdowns required to make them. A report count alone does not show whether a product covers your store’s actual workflows.

  • Sales over time: Can you compare a chosen period with another period, or break activity down by hour, weekday, or month?
  • Products and inventory: Can you see product, category, brand, or attribute-level performance, and do you need an out-of-stock forecast?
  • Customer behavior: Do you need customer cohorts, repeat-customer analysis, abandoned-cart information, or conversion rates?
  • Promotions and payments: Can you inspect performance by coupon or cart-price rule and payment type?
  • Geography: Do you need results by country, state, or another location level?
  • Custom analysis: Are ready-made reports enough, or do you need to build reports, define calculated columns, edit built-in reports, or save multiple dashboard views?

Also inspect how a tool defines its measures. “Sales,” “quantity sold,” and “customers” can have different meanings depending on treatment of cancellations, refunds, order status, and time period. For example, Amasty’s guide defines product quantity sold as ordered quantity minus cancelled and refunded quantity. Do not assume two reports with similar labels use identical calculations.

What Amasty adds, and what to verify

Amasty’s guide describes a dashboard with measures including orders, sales, average order value, customers, items ordered, refunds, and abandoned carts. It also discusses “Today & Live” data and period comparisons. Available reports cover topics such as hourly or weekday activity, country and state, payment type, cart-price rules, products and attributes, brands, bestsellers, customer cohorts, abandoned carts, and conversion rate. The columns, data definitions, and edition requirements vary by report; consult the Amasty user guide for the exact report you need.

Amasty’s product page currently presents three tiers: Advanced Reports, Pro, and Premium. The vendor describes the base tier as including 20+ ready-made reports and a dashboard; Pro adds custom report building, templates, and further report functionality; Premium adds custom columns, more charts, the ability to edit selected built-in reports, and out-of-stock forecasting. The displayed prices are vendor-listed amounts, not a guaranteed quote. The page reports an update dated July 30, 2026, and includes compatibility claims. How to choose an extension for your store

  1. List the decisions your reports must support. Write down the questions that current native reports or Advanced Reporting do not answer, then specify the needed dimensions, filters, comparison periods, and measures.
  2. Test each candidate against real report definitions. Check how the vendor calculates sales, units, refunds, cancellations, customers, and date ranges. Confirm that the report’s logic matches your accounting and operational definitions.
  3. Decide whether you need ready-made reports or customization. If standard reports cover your needs, avoid paying for custom report builders or calculated columns you will not use. If you need those features, verify which edition includes them.
  4. Confirm compatibility and dependencies. Match the vendor’s current compatibility matrix to your exact Magento version and edition, plus any relevant deployment requirements. Do not infer compatibility from the product name.
  5. Check refresh behavior and operational fit. Determine when data updates, whether dashboards show live or period-based data, and how filters and store scope work. Validate any critical report in your own environment before relying on it for decisions.
  6. Compare total cost and support terms. Review whether displayed amounts are first-year or recurring, what updates and support include, and whether future renewals or upgrades affect your budget.

When an extension is worth considering

An extension is most defensible when it fills a specific gap: a required breakdown is absent, staff need a more usable dashboard, or analysts need report-building and calculated-column tools unavailable in their current workflow. It is less compelling when the native reports or Adobe’s included Advanced Reporting already answer the business questions and the extension would mainly duplicate them. Neither vendor’s feature list establishes a sales lift, conversion increase, time saving, or return on investment; assess those outcomes against your own reporting process.
