The Omega OCI64Z is a 60 cm, four-zone induction cooktop with a listed total power of 7,400 W. Its cut-out is 560 × 490 mm, and it must be hardwired by an authorised installer. CHOICE labels it discontinued, but its public listing does not disclose the detailed test scores needed to judge cooking performance. That makes this a specification- and ownership-focused review, not a hands-on performance verdict.

What is the Omega OCI64Z?

The OCI64Z is a frameless black-glass induction cooktop with touch and slide controls at the front centre. Omega lists nine power levels plus boost, child lock, a residual-heat indicator, pause, pot detection, overflow detection and an audible signal. Its specification sheet says it is made in France. See Omega’s OCI64Z specification sheet and instruction manual for the manufacturer’s full details.

Those specifications describe the product, not how quickly it boils water, how evenly it cooks, or how well it performs over time. The public CHOICE review listing shows the model’s test year as 2023 or earlier, but its expert rating, cooking scores, reliability and satisfaction results, and detailed pros and cons are member-only. No performance score or recommendation can be established from the public information.

Is the Omega OCI64Z discontinued?

CHOICE labels the OCI64Z discontinued, and Omega includes it in its 60 cm cooktop archive. These are strong signs that it is a legacy model, rather than evidence of current production. Appliances Online still has a product page, but a page remaining online does not confirm stock, current pricing or ongoing manufacture. Check with retailers and Omega before buying, especially if you need a replacement part or service support.

What size cut-out does the Omega OCI64Z need?

Omega lists a bench opening of 560 × 490 mm. The cooktop’s overall width and depth are 590 × 520 mm. Published height measurements differ: the specification sheet says 53 mm, while the manual says 58 mm. Omega notes that specifications and product sizes may change, so have the installer measure the actual appliance and verify the site before cutting a bench.

Measurement or requirement Published value
Bench cut-out 560 × 490 mm
Overall width × depth 590 × 520 mm
Body height 53 mm in the specification sheet; 58 mm in the manual

The manual also describes ventilation requirements and says adjacent cabinetry must withstand a temperature rise of at least 100°C above room ambient while the cooktop is in use. The installer should check clearances, ventilation and applicable local requirements against the complete manual—not rely on dimensions alone.

Electrical requirements and installation

The manual gives a rated total power of 7,400 W. Omega’s specification sheet lists 220–240 V, 50 Hz and a maximum current of 32 A. The appliance is wired directly to mains; it is not described as a plug-in cooktop. Have an authorised person confirm the existing circuit is suitable and complete installation and commissioning. What pans work on an induction cooktop?

Use cookware whose manufacturer identifies it as induction-compatible, and make sure its base is large enough for the selected zone’s minimum detection diameter: 120 mm for either larger zone and 100 mm for either smaller zone. Induction relies on magnetic cookware, so material names alone are not a reliable compatibility test; some stainless-steel pans work, while others do not, and aluminium pans require an induction-compatible base. Confirm both the induction rating and the base size before using a pan. The Appliances Online OCI64Z product page also describes induction cooktops as compatible with cookware made from magnetic material.

Safety and warranty

The manual says cooking must be supervised, including short-term cooking. It warns against leaving solid or liquid oils unattended and against placing empty cookware on an active zone. If the glass cracks, turn the cooktop off and contact Omega service. The manual advises people with pacemakers to keep their upper body at least 30 cm from an operating induction zone and to consult their doctor if uncertain. Follow the complete manual and local requirements for product-specific safety decisions.

Who should consider the OCI64Z?

On the documented specifications, it may suit someone seeking a four-zone, 60 cm induction cooktop who can meet the cut-out and electrical requirements and has compatible pans. Its archived status is important: verify actual availability and support before committing. If you are comparing it with another cooktop, compare cut-out and body dimensions, circuit and wiring requirements, zone sizes and power sharing, controls and safety features, warranty, and confirmed current price and availability. The available public evidence does not support ranking the OCI64Z against another model or claiming a tested performance advantage.
