Reach the people most likely to care by choosing channels they use, publishing useful material consistently, and describing your company in plain, repeatable language. For visibility in large language model (LLM) answers, make the company and its expertise easy to understand across public sources—and treat media coverage as a complement to direct publishing, not a substitute for it.

Start with the people you want to reach

A viral post is not necessarily a useful one. A format can attract attention while missing the people who need your product, or feel unnatural for the company behind it. Begin with the audience: what they care about, where they spend time, and what information would help them.

Then choose one or two channels that fit both that audience and the founder’s strengths. Video, podcasting, and writing are different ways to share useful ideas; the best choice is one the team can sustain and the intended customers will actually encounter. Publishing relevant material consistently gives prospective customers more to learn from—and gives LLM-powered search interfaces more public information about the company.

Make the company easy to describe

Write a concise one-line description in everyday language. It should quickly tell someone what the company does or helps people do. Product Hunt author Lindsay Amos points to Partiful’s “Plan events in seconds” as an example of a clear description.

#1 Best Overall

Use the same core description across the website and blog, social profiles, community spaces such as Reddit or Discord, and media interviews. The wording can be adapted to the format, but the underlying meaning should stay consistent. Jargon-heavy or conflicting descriptions make it harder for people—and AI systems—to identify what the business offers.

Publish directly and pursue relevant media

Direct publishing gives a company ways to reach people without waiting for coverage. Options include blog posts, videos, podcasts, webinars, events, Discord, and social posts. Earned media can extend that reach, add third-party validation, and potentially influence what LLMs surface. These approaches work together: direct content explains the company in its own voice, while relevant outside coverage adds context from other sources.

Rank #2

Amos cites two figures about links appearing in AI answers: Muck Rack reported that 27% of links cited by AI come from journalistic sources, and Profound reported that up to 18% come from YouTube. Product Hunt’s article does not provide the underlying reports’ dates, samples, or methodologies, so these are attributed figures—not a dependable forecast for a particular company or proof that any one channel will improve visibility.

Give a pitch a reason to matter beyond the company

A launch or funding announcement is more compelling when connected to a broader cultural shift, a timely problem, or a consequence that matters to people beyond the company. Before contacting a journalist, influencer, or creator, read their work and check that the topic fits their beat. A small number of well-targeted pitches is more useful than sending the same message indiscriminately.

A practical sequence to follow

  1. Define the audience. Identify the customer group and the questions or problems that matter to them.
  2. Choose one or two channels. Prioritize where those people are active and what the founder or team can produce consistently.
  3. Settle on a plain-language one-liner. Make the company’s purpose understandable without specialist terms.
  4. Keep the message aligned. Use the same core description across the website, social bios, community profiles, and interviews.
  5. Publish useful material on a steady basis. Make it genuinely relevant to the audience rather than optimized only for a viral format.
  6. Find an earned-media angle. Connect company news to a timely issue or wider change, then approach people whose coverage fits.

What this can—and cannot—do for LLM visibility

Clear descriptions and a consistent body of public content can make it easier for people and AI systems to understand what a company does. Relevant journalism and creator coverage may provide additional sources about the company. But the figures Amos cites do not establish a universal ranking rule, guarantee that an LLM will mention a business, or show that media outreach alone will produce visibility. Treat the work as improving clarity and the amount of useful public context, not as a promise of placement.

The advice here comes from Lindsay Amos’s Product Hunt article, published August 3, 2025. The article presents her recommendations and attributed figures; it does not establish them as controlled tests of channel performance.
