The Haier HCI604TB3 is a 60 cm induction cooktop with four fixed cooking zones, nine heat settings plus Boost, slide-style touch controls and a child lock. Its published specifications are clear and point to a conventional built-in unit for a standard 60 cm bench opening. What the manufacturer material cannot tell you is how the cooktop performs day to day. Heat-up speed, noise, long-term reliability and energy use are not independently measured for this model in the sources this review relies on, so the assessment below is specification-led.

What the Haier HCI604TB3 is

Haier sells the HCI604TB3 as part of its 300 Series. It is a built-in induction hob with black glass, four cooking zones, and the usual induction features: heat is generated in the cookware rather than the glass, and the surface stays comparatively cool until a suitable pan is placed on it. Haier’s New Zealand product page describes the cooktop as offering “Four zones with precise heat control” and says it has “simple-to-use slide controls and a child lock for safety.” These are manufacturer descriptions, not independent judgements.

Dimensions and bench cutout

Haier lists two sets of measurements that matter for installation: the appliance itself and the cutout the bench must accommodate. They are not the same, and the difference is the first thing to check against your bench.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.
Measurement Width Depth Height
Appliance (Haier New Zealand product page) 590 mm 520 mm 60 mm
Cutout (Haier installation guidance) 562 mm 492 mm Not applicable

The appliance is 28 mm wider and 28 mm deeper than the cutout. Confirm in the current installation guide how that margin is supported and whether your bench material and edge clearances meet it. Haier notes that specifications can change, so check the guide supplied with the unit against the bench measurements you have, not against an older listing.

Electrical requirements

The product page lists a current draw of 30.8 A at 220 to 240 V, a 1 m power cord and optional power management. The 30.8 A figure comes from Haier’s 2026 quick reference guide, dated 23 April 2026. It is the stated model specification, not a measured household consumption figure.

A 30.8 A rating means the cooktop needs a supply able to carry that load. Whether your existing circuit, cable and isolator are suitable depends on your home’s wiring, not on the cooktop listing. Do not assume an existing hob circuit will work. Have a licensed electrician confirm the supply before you buy, and treat the 1 m cord as a fixed length: if your isolator or outlet sits further away, plan for that during installation.

Zone layout and power ratings

The HCI604TB3 uses two power levels across its four zones. Haier lists the values below, with Boost as the maximum setting for each zone.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.
Zone position Listed power Listed Boost power
Front-left 2,000 W 2,600 W
Rear-right 2,000 W 2,600 W
Rear-left 1,500 W 2,000 W
Front-right 1,500 W 2,000 W

Two zones are larger-output positions and two are smaller. In practice, that means the front-left and rear-right zones are the ones to use for large pans or heavy boiling, while the rear-left and front-right suit smaller pans and simmering. These are listed ratings; no independent heat-up test is available to confirm how quickly any zone reaches temperature.

Controls and safety features

Haier lists the following features for the HCI604TB3:

  • Child lock: prevents accidental operation by children.
  • Overheating alert: warns when a zone is running too hot.
  • Overspill alert: signals a boil-over or spill on the surface.
  • Surface-hot indicators: show which zones remain hot after use.
  • Warning indicators: displayed alongside the touch controls.

Haier’s product page says the cooktop “remains cool-to-touch until a pot or pan is placed on the surface.” Treat that as the manufacturer’s description. Surface-hot indicators are useful, but the zones can still hold heat after cookware is removed, so do not rely on the cool-to-touch claim alone around children.

The 3.2 out of 5 rating and what it does not show

Haier’s New Zealand product page displays a customer rating of 3.2 out of 5. The page text available does not show how many reviews that rating reflects, and it does not explain why customers rated the product as they did. A rating without a visible review count is a weak signal, and it should not be read as a representative verdict on the cooktop.

HCI604TB3 compared with two related Haier models

Haier lists two related 60 cm models that are worth comparing, because they differ in electrical load and cooking flexibility.

Model Electrical figures stated by Haier Zones and flexibility Additional functions
HCI604TB3 30.8 A, 220 to 240 V (2026 quick reference guide) Four fixed zones, nine heat settings plus Boost Child lock and overheating, overspill and surface-hot indicators
HCI604TPB3 19.7 A and 4.5 kW, described by Haier as a low-current model (Haier Australia product page) Haier’s listing gives the same fixed-zone layout as the HCI604TB3 (not stated in the supplied Australian page excerpt) Not stated in the listing excerpt
HCI604FTB3 Not stated in the sources reviewed Four zones with a Flexi Zone that can pair two zones Pause, and preset Grill and Keep warm functions

The HCI604TPB3 figures refer to that model, not the HCI604TB3. Haier states that installation circumstances vary and calls for a licensed electrician. If your supply cannot comfortably support 30.8 A, the lower-current model is the one to ask an electrician about, but confirm its fit and features on its own listing first.

Before you buy: a practical checklist

  1. Measure the bench opening and compare it with the 562 mm by 492 mm cutout in the current installation guide.
  2. Ask a licensed electrician to confirm the supply against the 30.8 A and 220 to 240 V specification.
  3. Check whether your cookware is induction-ready. A magnet that sticks firmly to the base of the pan is a common quick test; if it does not, the pan will not heat on an induction surface.
  4. Decide whether you need a flexible zone. The HCI604TB3 has four fixed zones; if you regularly cook with large griddles or oversized pans, the Flexi Zone model may suit you better.
  5. Confirm the warranty terms and current price with the seller in your market.

Who the HCI604TB3 suits

The HCI604TB3 is a sensible candidate for a household that wants a standard 60 cm induction cooktop with four fixed zones, clear power ratings and a child lock, and that can confirm its electrical supply before buying. It is less obviously suited to buyers who need zone flexibility for large cookware, or whose electrical supply is marginal. Because the body of evidence is manufacturer material and one customer rating without a review count, treat it as a well-specified appliance whose day-to-day performance you should verify with the manufacturer, a retailer return policy or an independent test before committing.
