To clear every word Samsung Keyboard has learned, open Settings, search for Samsung Keyboard, and use Reset to default settings > Erase personalized predictions. To delete just one unwanted suggestion, hold that word in the prediction toolbar and confirm. Both methods are below, along with the menu differences you may run into on different Galaxy software versions.
How Samsung Keyboard learns words
Samsung Keyboard keeps two kinds of learned data. It learns words you type often, and it adds new words as you enter them. Samsung’s UK support page describes this as the phone automatically saving words as “learned words” while you type. Those saved words are what cause an odd spelling or a name to keep appearing in the suggestion bar. Removing them is the fix, and you can choose how much to remove.
Choose the scope of removal
There are two practical options, and they differ in how much they delete.

Remove a single learned word
- Open any app with a text field, such as Messages, and tap the field so Samsung Keyboard appears.
- Type a letter or two so the unwanted word shows in the prediction toolbar above the keys.
- Touch and hold that word until a confirmation prompt appears.
- Tap OK. The word should stop appearing as a suggestion.
Samsung’s UK guidance describes this gesture. If the word still appears after you confirm, it may not be in the toolbar at that moment; type the start of it again and repeat the steps.

Erase all personalized predictions
Samsung’s US support page describes this as the way to clear learned words. The menu is reached by searching Settings, not by digging through submenus.
- Open Settings and tap the search icon.
- Search for Samsung Keyboard and open the result.
- Scroll to the bottom and select Reset to default settings.
- Tap Erase personalized predictions.
- Tap Erase to confirm.
Samsung’s US page describes the action as “Erase data that is used for word predictions. This will also remove learned words.” Choose only the personalized-predictions option. The same reset screen also offers keyboard-settings reset, touch-recognition data erasure and cache clearing. Those are separate controls, and selecting them is not needed to clear learned words.

If the menu looks different
Menu names and paths change between One UI versions and regions. Samsung’s UK page gives an older route that ends in a different label: Settings > Language and input > On-screen keyboard > Samsung Keyboard > Reset to default settings > Clear personalised data. It also notes that older devices may not have every predictive-text option.
- If the listed path does not match your screen, search Settings for Samsung Keyboard and work from the result.
- If you cannot find a personalized-predictions option at all, your software may not offer it. Use the single-word method instead.
- If learned words return after erasing, type the word again in a few messages; the keyboard will relearn anything you type frequently.
If you use Gboard or another keyboard
The steps above apply only to Samsung Keyboard. If Gboard is your active keyboard, Google’s Gboard help gives a different route: open Gboard’s Settings, go to Dictionary, and select Delete learned words. Other third-party keyboards use their own menus, so check that app’s settings.

What erasing does not do
Erasing personalized predictions does not reset your whole phone and does not delete your messages or apps. It removes the keyboard’s learned prediction data. If you want to keep most of your suggestions and only drop a few entries, use the single-word method repeatedly.
