LinkedIn has no single image size for every placement. A personal profile cover, a Company Page cover, a logo, a URL-post preview, and Career Page images use different dimensions and file limits. Choose the destination first, then crop and export the image to match it.
LinkedIn image sizes by placement
These are LinkedIn’s placement-specific recommendations and requirements in its current guidance reviewed in 2026. They may change as LinkedIn updates its products.

How to resize an image for LinkedIn
- Identify the destination. Decide whether the image is for a personal profile, a LinkedIn Page, a URL post, or a Career Page module. Use the matching row in the size guide; do not apply a profile image limit to a Page asset.
- Crop to the destination’s aspect ratio. Set the required pixel dimensions in an image editor or resizer, then crop the source image to fit. Avoid stretching it to fill the canvas, which can distort faces, logos, and text. Keep an unchanged copy of the original so you can revise the crop.
- Protect important content. For covers, place faces, text, and logos near the center rather than at the edges. Leave extra room around the lower-right, where LinkedIn advises that key details should not sit.
- Export to a supported format and size. Use PNG or JPG/JPEG as specified for the placement and stay below its file limit. Profile images allow up to 8 MB, while Page images allow up to 3 MB.
- Upload and preview. Check the image in its actual placement before relying on it. LinkedIn provides crop, filter, position, size, and rotation controls for personal covers; screen and browser-window differences can still affect how a cover appears.

LinkedIn may adjust cover images to fit different screen sizes. A crop that looks balanced in an editor can place a face, logo, or headline too close to the edge after upload. Keep essential content centered and preview the cover at relevant sizes; use LinkedIn’s positioning controls for a personal cover if needed. Blur or pixelation
Start with a high-quality source image and export it at the recommended dimensions rather than enlarging a small image. LinkedIn recommends high-quality JPEG for Page image resolution. If a dynamic Page cover remains blurry or pixelated, its guidance suggests considering compression tools; it names ImageOptim for Mac and Trimage for Windows as examples, not required products or endorsements. Wrong format or oversized file
Check the requirements for the specific placement. Profile photo and cover uploads have an 8 MB maximum, while Page images have a 3 MB maximum.
