To schedule a Pinterest Pin with Buffer, connect your Pinterest account, choose Pinterest in Buffer’s composer, add the image or video and Pin details, select a board, then add the post to your queue or set a publishing time. Scheduling helps organize publishing; it does not guarantee more visits. Measure outbound clicks against your own baseline to see whether your Pins are bringing traffic.
Schedule a Pinterest Pin with Buffer
- Connect your Pinterest account. In Buffer, add Pinterest as a channel and authorize the account. Buffer says you can connect multiple Pinterest accounts.
- Open the composer and select Pinterest. If you have more than one Pinterest profile connected, select the profile you want to publish from.
- Add the Pin media and details. Upload an image or video, then enter the available Pin text and destination details. Buffer lists JPG, PNG, WebP, and HEIC image formats, and MP4, MOV, AVI, and M4V video formats. Check Buffer’s current guidance for changes to supported formats or composer fields.
- Choose a board. Select the board where the Pin should appear. Buffer says a different board can be selected for each Pinterest profile when multiple profiles are selected.
- Choose how to publish. Add the Pin to your queue or choose a date and time. Buffer’s general scheduling guide describes options such as Next Available, Prioritize, a custom date and time, and immediate publishing; the choices available can depend on the connected channel and current interface. Buffer currently lists publishing and analytics for Pinterest, but not engagement features. It also says its Pinterest composer does not support profile mentions/tags or topic tags. Pinterest hashtags sent through Buffer are not clickable, as Buffer’s Pinterest guidance explains.
Know the scheduling limits before planning a calendar
Buffer’s daily publishing limit and its queue capacity measure different things. One limits how many posts can be published in a 24-hour period; the other limits how many Pins can wait in the queue. Buffer’s product and help pages give the following figures, which may change; check your account and Buffer’s current documentation before relying on them.

Choose between Buffer and Pinterest’s scheduler
Buffer is useful when you want to manage Pinterest alongside other supported social channels or use Buffer’s queue and reporting workflow. Pinterest’s built-in scheduler is a direct option for eligible business-account users whose needs fit its scheduling window.

Bulk-upload Pins with a CSV
For a larger batch, Buffer’s bulk upload process accepts post text, an image URL, an optional posting time, and a Pinterest board name. The date-time format shown in its help page is YYYY-MM-DD HH:mm, using 24-hour time and zero-padded values. Spreadsheet software can reformat dates and break imports, so check the saved CSV before uploading. Follow Buffer’s bulk-upload instructions for the current template and import steps.

Measure whether your Pins are bringing traffic
Scheduling is a publishing method, not proof of a traffic increase. Buffer’s product documentation describes scheduling and analytics features, but does not establish that using Buffer causes more Pinterest visits.

- Set a baseline. Record the clicks and other performance measures you currently use over a consistent period before changing your workflow.
- Track the outcome you care about. Buffer says you can sort per-post performance by impressions, saves, or clicks. Use outbound clicks as the primary signal for site traffic, and treat impressions and saves as supporting context.
- Compare like with like. Compare posts over similar time windows and account for differences in the Pins and their destinations. A scheduling tool alone cannot identify why one Pin performed differently.
- Adjust the publishing plan based on results. Use the posts that attract clicks to inform your next batch, rather than assuming that filling the queue will produce more visits.
Buffer’s article published September 3, 2025 reports an increase in Pinterest engagement from 3.08% to 5.26% and a 113% increase in usage in its analysis of millions of channel connections from 2022–2024. Those are Buffer’s reported analysis figures; the article excerpt does not specify the full method or denominator, so they should not be read as a guarantee for an individual account or as evidence that scheduling caused the change.
