Yes—Buffer lets you schedule Bluesky posts on its free plan. Connect your account with a Bluesky app password, then draft posts in Buffer and add them to your queue or choose a specific time. Buffer’s Free plan allows up to 10 scheduled posts per channel at once; a slot becomes available again when a post publishes.
What Buffer can do with Bluesky
Buffer is a third-party service for preparing and scheduling social posts. Its Bluesky workflow supports queueing posts, choosing a date and time, publishing immediately, cross-posting to other connected channels, and composing threads. Scheduled content can be reviewed in a calendar. The exact features available may change as Buffer updates its service.
The Bluesky Team announced the partnership on July 30, 2024, saying: “With Buffer’s scheduling feature, you can plan and organize your Bluesky posts alongside your other social media content.” That announcement provides historical integration context, not a guarantee that every current Buffer feature is endorsed by Bluesky. Read the announcement from the Bluesky Team.
Connect your Bluesky account to Buffer
-
In Buffer, add Bluesky as a channel and start the connection flow.
-
Find your Bluesky handle. Buffer’s guide also directs users to create an app password in Bluesky’s Privacy and Security settings.
-
Enter the handle and the dedicated app password in Buffer to complete the connection. An app password is separate from your regular Bluesky login password; use the app password for this integration rather than sharing your normal login credentials.
These are the connection steps described in Buffer’s July 2026 Bluesky guide. If the labels or screens have changed, follow the current prompts in Bluesky and Buffer.

Cross-post or create a thread
Cross-post to other channels
To prepare a post for more than Bluesky, select the other connected channels in Buffer’s composer before scheduling. Review the content for each destination: wording or media that works on Bluesky may need adjustment for another platform.
Schedule a thread
Buffer’s help documentation says its composer can add sub-posts to create and schedule a Bluesky thread, with a maximum of 25 sub-posts. The help page says thread creation is available on Buffer’s web version, not mobile. Check Buffer’s current Bluesky publishing help page for the latest limits and availability.
Is Buffer’s free plan enough?
For basic Bluesky scheduling, Buffer says readers can start for free. Its pricing page lists a Free-plan limit of 10 scheduled posts per channel at one time. When a post publishes, its slot opens for another scheduled post. Paid plans are listed as unlimited, subject to Buffer’s fair-use cap of 5,000 posts per channel.
Recommended Free Tools
| Plan | Scheduled posts per channel | When it may fit |
|---|---|---|
| Free | Up to 10 at one time; a slot opens after a post publishes | A manageable queue for an individual who wants to schedule ahead without paying |
| Paid | Listed as unlimited, subject to a fair-use cap of 5,000 posts per channel | A larger queue or other paid-plan features, if needed |
Buffer’s published limits and plan details can change. Check Buffer’s pricing page before choosing a plan. You do not need a paid plan simply to schedule Bluesky posts; compare your planned queue size with the 10-post free limit first. If you also need other channels, cross-posting, thread creation on web, or engagement and analytics features, check Buffer’s current plan details and help documentation to see what is included.

Choose posting times as a starting point
Buffer’s August 5, 2026 analysis of more than 3 million Bluesky posts reports Saturday at 5 p.m. as its top posting time. The analysis also points to weekend afternoons and evenings, and weekday evenings, as stronger windows in that dataset. Buffer says the times are adjusted to the audience’s local time zone. Its broader 2026 State of Social Media Engagement report covered more than 52 million posts across several platforms.
Those figures describe Buffer’s analysis, not a universal best time or a Bluesky recommendation. Use Saturday at 5 p.m. as one possible test slot, then compare how your own posts perform and adjust for your audience. See Buffer’s 2026 posting-time analysis.
