On paper, the POCO X8 Pro Max has the stronger chipset and the larger rated battery, while the realme GT 7T has the higher rated charging wattage and the higher-resolution front camera. Both are large 6.8-inch-class AMOLED phones with 120Hz refresh rates and 50MP main cameras. No independent side-by-side test establishes which one is faster in games, takes better photos, or lasts longer in daily use, so the right pick depends on the specs you weigh most and on the price you can actually buy the phone for. The price section below is India-specific, because that is the only market where the sources gave a price for both phones.
Specifications at a glance
The figures below come from realme’s official Spain specifications page for the GT 7T and POCO’s official Global product page for the X8 Pro Max. Both vendors describe these as stated specifications, not measured results.
| Axis | realme GT 7T | POCO X8 Pro Max | What the difference means |
|---|---|---|---|
| Chipset | MediaTek Dimensity 8400-Max | MediaTek Dimensity 9500s | POCO is the higher-tier chip on paper. Real performance depends on cooling, power limits and software. |
| Display | 6.8-inch AMOLED, 2800×1280, up to 120Hz | 6.83-inch AMOLED, 2772×1280, up to 120Hz | Nearly identical size, refresh rate and resolution. |
| Battery (typical) | 7000mAh | 8500mAh (POCO notes this may vary by market) | POCO has the larger stated capacity. Capacity alone does not prove longer endurance. |
| Rated wired charging | 120W SUPERVOOC | 100W HyperCharge | realme has the higher advertised wattage. Observed charging speed depends on the charger, settings and temperature. |
| Main rear camera | 50MP Sony IMX896, OIS | 50MP Light Fusion 600, OIS | Same headline resolution. The sensor and processing differ, so megapixels do not settle image quality. |
| Ultra-wide rear camera | 8MP | 8MP | Same resolution on both; no quality verdict follows from it. |
| Front camera | 32MP | 20MP (per POCO’s UK specification listing) | realme has the higher stated resolution. |
| Included charger | Not stated in the sources reviewed | Not stated in the sources reviewed | Check the box contents at purchase, because a bundled charger changes the real charging comparison. |
Performance: the chip gap and what it does not prove
The POCO X8 Pro Max carries the Dimensity 9500s, a higher tier than the Dimensity 8400-Max in the GT 7T. A comparison website reports higher benchmark scores for POCO. Those figures come from third-party tests, and no independent controlled test was identified that compares the two phones under the same conditions.
POCO’s own launch page cites an AnTuTu V11.0.5 score of 3,085,998, which POCO says came from its internal labs at around 25°C. POCO adds that actual results may vary. Treat this as a vendor benchmark, not an independent result, and do not carry the score over to sustained gaming or heat behaviour.
#1 Best Overall
Benchmark scores measure short bursts. Frame rates over a long session depend on thermal throttling, the game’s own settings and the software build, and none of these was tested in a published comparison that we could verify. If gaming is your main use, look for long-session frame-rate and temperature tests on the exact models before deciding.
Battery and charging
- Capacity: POCO’s typical battery is 8500mAh, against 7000mAh typical for the GT 7T. Both figures are stated specifications.
- Charging wattage: realme advertises 120W SUPERVOOC and POCO advertises 100W HyperCharge. Both are maximum ratings.
- What is missing: no endurance test or standardised charge-time measurement was identified for either phone.
A larger battery and a faster charger do not add up to a clear winner. A 120W rating only helps if the charger in the box, or one you buy, can deliver it, and the phone’s temperature and battery settings can limit it. Compare the bundled charger and any charge-time test you can find for the exact model.
Display
The two screens are close on headline specifications. The GT 7T uses a 6.8-inch AMOLED panel at 2800×1280 with refresh rates up to 120Hz. The X8 Pro Max uses a 6.83-inch AMOLED panel at 2772×1280 with refresh rates up to 120Hz.

POCO advertises peak brightness of 3500 nits over 25% of the display area. This is a vendor figure, and POCO attaches a test caveat to it. It does not tell you how readable the screen is in direct sunlight, which needs an independent outdoor test.
Cameras
Both phones pair a 50MP main camera with an 8MP ultra-wide camera. The main sensors differ: realme names a Sony IMX896 with OIS, and POCO names its Light Fusion 600 with OIS. The front camera is the one clear specification gap, with 32MP on the GT 7T against 20MP on the X8 Pro Max in POCO’s UK listing.
No independent comparison of photo or video quality was identified. If the camera decides your purchase, compare sample photos taken in low light and at zoom from reviewers who shot both phones side by side.

Price: what the listings show and why no gap is quoted
This is the weakest part of the available evidence. The price figures below are a dated snapshot and conflict with each other, so they should not be read as a settled price difference.
India snapshot, accessed 7 October 2026
- realme GT 7T: ₹38,689 at Amazon India, as shown on the 91mobiles comparison page.
- POCO X8 Pro Max: ₹48,999 in the page header of the same comparison, but the comparison section on that page lists the phone as unavailable in any store.
Because the POCO figure and its availability disagree on the same page, no price gap is calculated here. The two prices also may not refer to the same RAM and storage configuration.
How to check the price before you buy
- Open Amazon India and search for each model name, for example “realme GT 7T” and “POCO X8 Pro Max”.
- For each listing, note the RAM and storage configuration, the seller, and whether it is in stock.
- Compare only listings with the same RAM and storage. Ignore prices that are for a different configuration or an older launch offer.
- Check POCO’s own India product page, if one is live, for the official price and availability in your market. POCO’s global specifications may not match the Indian model.
Make sure you are comparing the right POCO
POCO announced an X8 Pro series launch event for 17 March 2026. The X8 Pro and the X8 Pro Max are separate models with different specifications, so check the model name on the listing before comparing the figures in this article. Availability varies by market.

What is not established
- No independent head-to-head test of performance, gaming, heat, battery life, charging time or camera quality was identified.
- No named expert or regulator finding on either phone was identified.
- POCO’s “POCO’s First Pro Max. The Max Experience.” is promotional copy from its official launch page, dated 17 March 2026, and does not amount to an assessment.
Which phone fits your priorities
Use the table above to weigh these factors against each other:
- Heavy gaming and raw chip performance: the X8 Pro Max’s higher-tier chipset is the stronger paper case, but check long-session tests first.
- Battery capacity: the X8 Pro Max has the larger typical battery.
- Fast charging: the GT 7T has the higher rated wattage, provided you use a charger that can deliver it.
- Selfies: the GT 7T has the higher stated front-camera resolution.
- Price: decisive only once you have confirmed live prices for the same RAM and storage configuration.
If the chip and battery matter most and the X8 Pro Max’s verified local price is acceptable, it is the stronger paper choice. If fast charging and the front camera matter more, or the GT 7T is clearly cheaper for the same configuration, the realme is the better buy.
