Hisense’s official documentation does not establish a single, universal way to turn off Dolby Vision on its Smart TVs. The manuals state that when the TV receives a Dolby Vision signal, the picture mode becomes Dolby Vision. Whether you can stop that behavior depends on your exact model, operating system, region, firmware, and the app or device sending the picture. This guide explains what you can change, why menu paths differ, and how to narrow down the cause.
Why there is no single off switch
Dolby Vision is a format carried inside the video signal. Hisense’s E-Manuals for the 9603GTV and 9655GTV AM describe the behavior directly:
“When you use a Dolby Vision signal, the picture mode is Dolby Vision picture mode.”

Because the mode is tied to the incoming signal, changing an ordinary picture setting does not reliably stop it. Hisense’s documentation covers picture adjustments and applying picture settings, but it does not show that Dolby Vision itself can be disabled across every model, input, and app.

Decide what you actually want
The right approach depends on the result you are after.

Menu paths differ between manuals
Two Hisense manuals describe different picture menu paths. One gives Settings > Display & Sound > Picture > General > Auto Picture Mode. Another describes Settings > Display & Sound > Picture > Apply Picture Settings. Both are picture controls, and neither is documented as a Dolby Vision off switch.

Hisense notes that available options may depend on the model, the country or region, and the picture mode currently selected. A path that appears in one manual may not exist on your set, so do not follow a menu path from a different model without confirming it in your own manual.

- The exact model number, printed on the label on the back of the TV or on the packaging.
- The operating system: Google TV, Fire TV, or VIDAA.
- The current firmware version shown in your TV’s system information.
- The sales region or country, since menu options can differ by region.
- Whether the Dolby Vision mode appears when you use a built-in app, an external HDMI device, or both.
Once you have these details, check the manual for that exact model on Hisense’s official support pages.
Narrow down the source of the signal
Identifying where the signal comes from is the most useful troubleshooting step, because the Hisense manuals do not document universal source-side fixes.

- Note your model, operating system, and firmware as described above.
- Play a title from a built-in app and check whether Dolby Vision mode appears.
- Play the same title from an external player connected over HDMI and compare the result.
- If the switch happens only with one app, the stream from that app is the likely cause. Check that app’s documentation.
- If the switch happens with every source, review the picture mode options in your model’s manual. For external players, consult that device’s own manual for its output settings, since those steps are not covered by Hisense’s documentation.
The Dolby Vision 2 rollout
On August 6, 2026, Hisense announced that Dolby Vision 2 was available on select televisions, with more models expected to receive firmware updates in the following weeks. The announcement describes the rollout only. It does not say that the format can be disabled, and it does not provide a model-independent setting.
If your menus differ from older guides, compare your firmware version against Hisense’s official update information before applying older menu steps.

In short, there is no verified universal Dolby Vision off switch on Hisense Smart TVs. Confirm your model, check its manual, and test the source to see whether the switch follows a specific app or every input.
