Hunter Connect is Hunter College’s online community for alumni and students. Hunter’s own description, published in its Fall 2022 issue of At Hunter, presents it as a way to reconnect with alumni, follow college events, join groups, see job postings, and take part in discussions, with alumni offering mentoring and advice to students. The name is not unique to Hunter, so this guide covers only the Hunter College service. Because the college’s description dates from 2022, confirm current access and features with Hunter College before you rely on them.
What Hunter Connect is
Hunter Connect is a college-affiliated platform, not a general professional network open to anyone. The college’s 2022 feature describes it as a place for Hunter people to find one another, and the quoted purpose is direct:
“Hunter Connect, an online platform where you can find and reconnect with other alumni, learn about Hunter happenings and events, and get involved with current college activities.”

Pick the symptom - the matching free tool is one click away.
That wording is the college’s own institutional copy, not a statement from a named official. Its value for a reader is in the boundaries it sets: membership is tied to Hunter, and the network is built around the college’s alumni and students.

What the 2022 description says you can do
The Fall 2022 article lists the following uses. Treat each as the college’s stated design at that time, not as a confirmed current feature list.
- Reconnecting with alumni. The platform is meant to help graduates find and recontact former classmates and other Hunter alumni.
- College events and activities. Members can learn about Hunter happenings and get involved with current college activities.
- Groups. The article names groups as part of the community space.
- Job postings. The college lists job postings among the platform’s offerings.
- Discussions. Members can take part in community discussion threads.
- Resources. The article points to community resources available through the platform.
- Mentoring and advice. Students can reach alumni who offer advice, guidance, and connections.
How alumni mentoring is framed
Mentoring is the part of Hunter Connect the college emphasized most. The magazine invites alumni to give their time to students or to fellow graduates:
“The gift of your time, insight and experience could prove invaluable to a student or fellow alumnus.”

This is a college figure from its Fall 2022 report, describing sign-ups at launch. It is not a current count of active members, and it does not show how many mentoring relationships formed or how well they worked.
What the login page shows today
The Hunter Connect portal page, reviewed for this guide, is a login screen with a password recovery option and a beta label. That confirms the portal exists under the Hunter Connect name. It does not show who may register, whether students can still enrol, which features are live, or whether the mentoring program is running now. Those points come from the college, and the 2022 article is the most recent published description available for this guide.
How to get started
Because access rules are not stated on the login page, use the following sequence and check each step with the college:
- Confirm your connection to Hunter. Be ready to show that you are a current student or a Hunter College alumnus, since the platform is built around that relationship.
- Find the official entry point. The 2022 article gives the portal address as hunterconnect.hunter.cuny.edu. Check that this address still leads to the college’s Hunter Connect page before you enter any credentials.
- Contact the college if the portal does not answer your question. The article gives hunterconnect@hunter.cuny.edu. Ask whether your status qualifies you, how to register, and whether mentoring is open to you.
- Use only the options the college confirms. Groups, discussions, job postings, and mentoring should be treated as available only after you have verified them for your current status.
When Hunter Connect is the right route, and when it is not
This is editorial context rather than a sourced comparison of products. A college-affiliated alumni community is most useful when your goal is to reach people who share your Hunter background, such as a former classmate, a mentor from your major, or an alumnus in a field you are considering. A broad professional network offers wider reach across institutions and industries, but it does not carry the shared college identity that makes an alumni introduction easier to start. Neither route is shown to produce better results than the other.
What the evidence does not establish
- Whether the platform still operates in the form described in 2022.
- Who is currently eligible to register, including whether students and alumni have the same access.
- Measured employment outcomes, response rates, or evidence that joining leads to a job or promotion.
- How job postings are reviewed or whether listings are current.
Hunter College is the only authoritative source for these points. Confirm them before following any signup or mentoring steps.
