The Xiaomi Redmi 17 4G is a 4G phone with a 6.9-inch HD+ display (1600 × 720) that refreshes up to 120Hz, a MediaTek Helio G91-Ultra processor, a 50MP main rear camera, a 7500mAh typical battery and support for 45W charging. Xiaomi’s global specification page lists the platform as REDMI 17 and runs Xiaomi HyperOS 3. Regional Xiaomi stores sell it under the Redmi 17 4G name.
Those figures are Xiaomi’s published specifications, checked as of early October 2026. Configurations, LTE bands, NFC availability and box contents vary by market, so confirm the variant you are buying before comparing it with another phone.
Model name and regional variants
Two names describe the same product line. Xiaomi’s global specifications page uses the heading REDMI 17. Regional retail listings use the full Redmi 17 4G name. Xiaomi Store Panamá lists a Redmi 17 4G with 4GB RAM and 256GB storage. Xiaomi Israel lists a Redmi 17 4G 4GB+256GB Black. Both listings confirm that the name is in live retail use, but neither proves what a different country’s SKU contains.
Before buying, check three things on the seller’s listing or the box: the RAM and storage combination, the software version, and whether the phone is sold with a power adapter.

Display: large screen, HD+ resolution
The 6.9-inch panel gives a large viewing area, and the 120Hz refresh rate makes scrolling smoother in apps that support it. Xiaomi’s wording is “up to 120Hz for supported apps”, so the higher rate will not apply everywhere.
The resolution is 1600 × 720, which is HD+ rather than Full HD. Text and fine detail on a screen this size will look softer than on a Full HD phone. Treat the refresh rate as one feature of the display, not a measure of overall screen quality.
Brightness figures come with conditions. The 825-nit value is a peak (HBM) figure, while the 675-nit value is typical. Use the typical figure for everyday comparison.

Processor and memory: what “up to 12GB” means
The Helio G91-Ultra is a 12nm chip with an octa-core layout of Cortex-A75 and Cortex-A55 cores, a 2.0GHz maximum clock and a Mali-G52 MC2 GPU. These are component specifications. This article does not include independent benchmark or gaming results, so the chip’s real-world speed should be checked in reviews before you rely on it for demanding apps.
The memory choice matters more than the headline figure. The phone is offered with 4GB or 6GB of physical RAM. Xiaomi’s “up to 12GB” figure is for the 6GB version and includes memory extension, which uses part of the phone’s storage as additional working memory. It is not 12GB of physical RAM. Extended memory will not perform like physical RAM, so the 6GB version is the more useful one for multitasking.
The microSD slot shares the SIM tray. In the hybrid 3-in-2 arrangement you can use two SIMs or one SIM plus a card. Choose a storage capacity that fits without expansion if you need two SIMs, because the microSD card (up to 2TB, sold separately) would take the second SIM’s place.

Cameras: published specifications only
The rear system has a 50MP main camera with a 5P lens and f/1.8 aperture, plus an auxiliary lens. The auxiliary lens is not a second high-resolution camera. The front camera is 8MP at f/2.05. Video on both cameras tops out at 1080p at 30fps.

Megapixel counts and aperture values do not show how a camera performs in low light, colour accuracy or processing. For that, look for independent camera tests.
Battery and charging: check the adapter
The battery is rated 7500mAh typical, which is a high figure for a phone of this thickness (8.8mm). The phone supports up to 45W wired charging, but the global box does not include a power adapter. Xiaomi recommends a Xiaomi 45W adapter.

Budget for the adapter if you want full charging speed. Using a lower-wattage charger will work, but charging will be slower. The phone also supports up to 22.5W wired reverse charging, which lets it power another device over a cable. Actual reverse-charging output depends on the connected device and cable.

The published LTE bands cover FDD bands 1, 3, 5, 7, 8, 20 and 28, plus TDD bands 38, 40 and 41. Xiaomi notes that bands vary by region and operator. A band list is not proof that a specific carrier will work, so compare the phone’s bands against your carrier’s coverage before buying.

Water and dust resistance: what IP64 covers
IP64 is a rating for protection against dust and water splashes. Xiaomi states it under controlled laboratory conditions, citing IEC 60529 and EN 60529 editions. Xiaomi also warns that resistance can decline with normal use and advises against immersing the phone. Treat IP64 as protection against rain, splashes and dust. It is not a waterproof rating, and it does not cover swimming or submersion.
Software
The phone runs Xiaomi HyperOS 3. Xiaomi says feature, app and service availability can vary by software version and model. The global page does not state the Android base. Xiaomi Israel’s listing describes HyperOS 3 on Android 16, but that is a market-specific statement and should not be assumed for every region.
Buying checklist
- Confirm the RAM and storage combination on the listing: 4GB or 6GB RAM, with 128GB or 256GB storage.
- Check that the listing includes a power adapter. The global box does not, so the 45W charging figure needs an adapter to deliver full speed.
- Compare the LTE bands and NFC availability with your carrier and country.
- Confirm the warranty terms with the seller, since warranty card contents and regional support differ by market.
- Expect the box to match the list above, but check the seller’s description because package contents may vary by region.
Who the Redmi 17 4G suits
The Redmi 17 4G fits buyers who want a large screen with a high refresh rate, a large battery and expandable storage, and who accept an HD+ resolution and a 4G-only network profile. Choose the 6GB version if you multitask heavily, because the extended memory cannot replace physical RAM. Choose the 256GB version if you do not want to rely on a microSD card. Confirm band support and NFC before you buy if you need either.
