To collect email marketing consent at checkout in Hostinger AI Builder, go to Settings → Checkout in your store’s management area, find the Email marketing opt-in section, and turn on Show opt-in checkbox at the checkout. Add your Privacy Policy under Checkout policies before you enable the checkbox. Hostinger’s help documentation makes that policy a prerequisite. The interface labels in this guide are the ones Hostinger currently publishes, and they can change without notice.

Before you enable the checkbox

The marketing checkbox is a separate control from the store’s checkout policies. Hostinger lists three checkout policies, Terms & Conditions, Privacy Policy, and Refund Policy, and these cover agreement to store terms. The marketing checkbox covers consent to promotional email. A customer who accepts the Terms & Conditions has not thereby agreed to receive marketing messages, so the two should not be treated as the same thing on your checkout page or in your records.

Hostinger’s help article puts the Privacy Policy first:

“Make sure your Privacy Policy is added under Checkout policies before enabling this feature.” (Hostinger Help Center)

Hostinger also says the policy must explain how customer data is collected and used for marketing, and that it must comply with applicable privacy laws. If you have not yet written that section, do it before you switch the checkbox on, because the checkbox then points customers to a policy that actually covers marketing use.

Turn on the checkout opt-in

  1. Open your store in Hostinger AI Builder and go to the store’s management area (the Store Manager).
  2. Choose Settings.
  3. Select Checkout.
  4. Under Checkout policies, confirm that your Privacy Policy is added.
  5. Find the Email marketing opt-in section and enable Show opt-in checkbox at the checkout.
  6. Save or publish the change using the button the interface shows you.
  7. Open your checkout page in preview and confirm that the marketing checkbox appears.

Hostinger’s setup instructions name the toggle but do not describe a verification step. Step 7 is a recommended check rather than a documented one, and it is the quickest way to catch a checkbox that did not save.

Where consent shows up in your store

Once the checkbox is live, consent decisions appear in your customer records. You do not need a separate export to see who opted in.

Check who gave marketing consent

Open Customers in the store’s management area. Hostinger documents that the list displays which customers gave marketing consent. Use this view to audit consent before you send campaigns or set up automations.

Opt a customer out manually

Hostinger provides a manual control for withdrawing consent. In the Customers list, open the three-dot menu for the customer and select Opt-out of marketing consent. Use this when a customer asks to stop marketing email outside the store’s normal unsubscribe flow, or when your own records show that consent should be withdrawn.

Send marketing email through Hostinger Reach

Consent collected at checkout feeds Hostinger Reach, Hostinger’s email marketing service. Hostinger says customers who actively provide marketing consent at checkout can be synced to Reach as subscribers, provided the store is connected. Reach supports campaigns and ecommerce automations, but a contact must have subscriber status before it can receive marketing email. An email address entered at checkout without subscriber consent is not enough for a marketing message under this documented flow.

Connect the store to Reach

  1. Open the Hostinger Reach dashboard and go to Integrations.
  2. Select your ecommerce store.
  3. Connect the store.

Once connected, the integration can monitor purchase and abandoned-cart events, and Reach can run campaigns and automations based on store activity.

How abandoned-cart emails are timed

Hostinger’s AI Builder abandoned-cart guide sets out the following behavior. These are product figures published by Hostinger, not independent measurements, and they can change.

  • The site must be connected to Reach and have an active store.
  • Abandoned-cart checks run every hour.
  • A typical abandoned-cart email arrives within 1 to 2 hours after checkout is abandoned.
  • Abandoned-cart automation emails to the same contact are separated by an automatic cooldown of 8 hours.
  • Only subscribed contacts receive marketing emails.

Checkout opt-in or a Reach signup form?

Hostinger documents two routes for building a Reach subscriber list. They differ mainly in where the visitor is when consent is given. Hostinger’s published material does not compare their performance, so the choice should rest on where you want consent collected.

Consent rules for EU customers

The checkbox is a collection mechanism. It does not by itself guarantee legal compliance for every store, country, or consent flow. For stores serving customers in the European Union, the General Data Protection Regulation sets out specific requirements. The points below come from the official text of Regulation (EU) 2016/679, published on EUR-Lex.

  • Where processing relies on consent, the controller must be able to demonstrate that consent was given.
  • A consent request bundled with other matters must be clearly distinguishable from them and written in clear, plain language.
  • Withdrawing consent must be as easy as giving it.
  • Data subjects have a right to object to processing for direct marketing.

Recital 32 of the regulation states: “Silence, pre-ticked boxes or inactivity should not therefore constitute consent.” Article 7(3) states: “The data subject shall have the right to withdraw his or her consent at any time.” Electronic marketing rules and laws in other jurisdictions can add requirements, so check your obligations for each market you serve.

Troubleshooting

  • The checkbox does not appear on checkout. Confirm that your Privacy Policy is added under Checkout policies, that the toggle is on, and that you saved or published the change. Then reload the checkout preview.
  • Consenting customers do not appear in Reach. Confirm that the store is connected under Integrations in the Reach dashboard. Only customers who actively gave consent at checkout are synced.
  • A contact does not receive marketing email. Check whether the contact has subscriber status in Reach. An address collected at checkout without subscriber consent does not receive marketing messages.
  • A customer wants to withdraw consent. Use Opt-out of marketing consent from the Customers list.
