Combat, weapons, and exploration
PlayStation’s August 17, 2026 deep dive describes more than 30 main weapons and 25 secondary weapons called Phantom Edges. It says players can upgrade weapons, pair them with accessories, use summons and ranged options, and reforge upgrades to recover materials. PlayStation’s general product page instead says “30+ primary weapons and 20+ unique Phantom Edges,” so the official pages differ on the secondary-weapon count; neither figure should be treated as a settled final total.
The same deep dive says interactions with citizens and some side quests can open story paths, while exploration can uncover secrets related to the plot. These are official preview descriptions, not an independent assessment of how the finished game plays.
Kungfupunk style and creative involvement
PlayStation describes the visual approach as “Kungfupunk,” combining martial arts, punk fantasy, mechanical prosthetics, and wuxia cinema influences. It also says the game uses motion capture and martial arts choreographers. The PlayStation deep dive identifies Donnie Yen as a kung fu consultant who helped shape the game’s kung fu style and action design; S-GAME’s Steam announcement says he has served as Creative Consultant since 2023.

Is Phantom Blade Zero a Soulslike?
The official descriptions cited here call it a dark wuxia action RPG and emphasize action, weapons, and story. They do not establish that it is a Soulslike, nor do they provide enough detail to make a confident genre comparison based on difficulty, checkpoint design, or combat systems. Players looking for a particular challenge level should consult a final review rather than infer those details from the genre label alone.
What is included in the Digital Deluxe Edition?
The US PlayStation store listing shows a Standard Edition for $59.99 and a Digital Deluxe Edition for $69.99 at the research date, October 9, 2026. The prices are regional storefront listings and may change. The Deluxe Edition includes the full game, two appearances, a digital artbook, and a digital soundtrack.

Official previews provide a premise, setting, and broad account of weapons and exploration, but the game is unreleased as of October 9, 2026. There is no final-game review or performance assessment established by the cited sources, so claims about how it feels to play, runs on particular hardware, or compares in practice with other action RPGs remain unverified here.
S-GAME reported in a December 28, 2025 Steam Community post that the game had passed one million wishlists, 15 days after wishlists opened on December 12. That is a developer-reported wishlist milestone, not a sales figure. In a June 2, 2026 post, S-GAME CEO and creator Soulframe said, “A 50-day delay cannot solve everything.” In the same post, discussing a planned preview, he said, “The vast majority of what we show there will be brand-new.”
