The strongest options in the smokeless fire pit category, based on the evidence available for this comparison, are the Solo Stove Bonfire 2.0, the Solo Stove Yukon, the Breeo X Series and the Breeo Y Series. The Bonfire 2.0 is the most portable choice for four to six people, the Yukon suits larger groups, the X Series fits hosting and live-fire cooking, and the Y Series is built for car camping and smaller spaces.
This is a four-model shortlist, not a five-model ranking built from user votes. The sources we could verify describe four products in enough detail to compare them on the same criteria. We did not add a fifth model to complete the list. We also did not establish a cross-brand survey of user reviews. Solo Stove product pages display star ratings and review counts, but those figures change from day to day and are not comparable across brands, so this article does not rank models by them. The comparison instead draws on manufacturer product pages, two independent reviews and a manufacturer user guide, each identified below.
What “smokeless” means for a fire pit
In fire pit marketing, “smokeless” means reduced smoke, not zero smoke. Tom’s Guide, in its 2026 fire pit guide, reported very little smoke from the Bonfire 2.0 it tested, using repeated burns with the same wood and starting technique. Ideal Home, in its 2025 long-term update, reported that wind affected the Bonfire’s performance during its review. Neither source supports a claim that a pit produces no smoke in every condition. Wind, fuel and how the fire is built all change how much smoke you see, so treat “smokeless” as a lower-smoke design rather than a guarantee.

Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone. How to choose
Start with the job the pit has to do, then check the constraints that apply to your yard or campsite:
- Four to six people, and the pit moves between spots: the Solo Stove Bonfire 2.0 is the closest match to its stated group size and portability.
- Six or more regular guests, and the pit stays put: the Solo Stove Yukon is built for that group size.
- Regular cooking over the fire, and hosting at home: the Breeo X Series, with the X24 as Breeo’s named bestseller, fits this use.
- Camping, or a small patio or balcony: the Breeo Y Series is positioned for portable and smaller-space use.
Before you buy, confirm these points for the exact model:
Quick Recap
- Group size against the manufacturer’s stated capacity, and the diameter of the unit you are buying.
- How far you will need to carry it, and whether it fits your vehicle or storage space.
- Whether you need cooking attachments, covers, stands or spark shields, and that each one is listed as compatible with your model.
- How you will clean it. The removable ash pan and ash tray on the Bonfire 2.0 were the feature Tom’s Guide singled out.
Placement and safety
- Follow the manual for your exact model and the fire rules that apply where you live.
- Do not place a Breeo X Series pit directly on heat-sensitive surfaces. Breeo’s user guide warns against this.
- Keep pets and children away while the pit is hot. An Ideal Home reviewer reported that the reviewer’s dog nearly touched a hot Bonfire 2.0, and the reviewer advised keeping pets away. That was one reviewer’s experience, not a standard test.
- Plan the pit’s position around wind. Ideal Home reported that wind affected the Bonfire’s performance during its review.
