Amazon’s most important October 2026 announcements so far are a new Alexa Tablet lineup with three Android models, a Kids Tablet family in two sizes, a redesigned Kindle family announced October 1, a Ring Smart Lock that is not yet on sale, and a six-year deal for Prime Video to stream the Emmy Awards. This roundup covers the major announcements visible in Amazon’s official news listings and product announcement pages through October 9, 2026 (UTC). It is not an exhaustive record of every country-specific or subsidiary update, so check your local Amazon store for anything not listed here.
Alexa Tablets: three new Android models with Alexa+
Amazon introduced three Android tablets with full Google Play access and Alexa+ built in: the Alexa Tablet 12 Pro, 11, and 8. The 12 Pro is the premium model, with a 12-inch display and an optional anti-glare Nanomatte finish. The 11 and 8 are positioned for entertainment and portability. Amazon also announced a dedicated Pro Pen and Pro Keyboard for the lineup.
| Model | Screen and positioning | Announced starting price |
|---|---|---|
| Alexa Tablet 12 Pro | 12-inch display; premium productivity | $499.99 (Nanomatte configuration: $549.99) |
| Alexa Tablet 11 | 11-inch display; entertainment | $329.99 |
| Alexa Tablet 8 | 8.7-inch display; portability | $229.99 |
| Pro Pen (accessory) | Dedicated stylus announced with the lineup | $89.99 |
| Pro Keyboard (accessory) | Dedicated keyboard announced with the lineup | $149.99 |
The screen, performance, and battery descriptions are Amazon’s own product claims. No independent testing of these tablets is available in this roundup, so treat specifications as the company’s figures.

Ring Smart Lock: a 2027 U.S. plan that needs FCC authorization

- Fits a standard single-cylinder deadbolt.
- Works with Ring devices and Echo/Alexa.
- Amazon says Sidewalk coverage varies by location.
Emergency power and regulatory status
The lock’s distinguishing feature is a power dial intended to provide emergency power by hand if the battery runs down. Amazon’s disclosure also states that the lock had not yet received required FCC authorization and cannot be offered for sale or lease until that authorization is obtained.
Ring founder and chief inventor Jamie Siminoff said: “Almost everything in our lives today is digital, yet we still carry around little pieces of metal in our pockets. That’s because of smart lock anxiety. A lock has to work every time, and until now, a dead battery could leave you locked out of your own home. With Ring Smart Lock, we’re solving that—no backup key or battery to carry, no locksmith to call, no worries if the battery runs down.” That is a company statement, not independent verification of the lock’s reliability.

Prime Video and the Emmy Awards
Amazon announced a six-year agreement under which Prime Video will stream the Emmy Awards exclusively worldwide. The announcement summary does not describe a change to Prime membership terms or subscription pricing, and it does not give an exact event schedule or regional viewing terms. Those details should come from Amazon’s Prime Video announcements as they are published.
Prime Big Deal Days (October 6–7)
Amazon’s official FAQ covers the 2026 Prime Big Deal Days shopping event, which ran October 6–7, 2026. This is a shopping event rather than a new product. Deal prices and “best deal” claims should be checked against current listings and price history, since event prices are not a reliable guide to a product’s normal price.
