The ASUS ProArt GR1X is a compact desktop built around NVIDIA’s RTX Spark platform, with ASUS targeting creators and developers who want to run creative and AI workloads locally. ASUS advertises up to 128GB of unified memory and up to 1 petaflop of FP4 AI performance, but those are manufacturer claims—not independent benchmark results. The company says the GR1X is expected through select premium retailers later in 2026; it has not announced the mini PC’s price or exact on-sale date.
What is the ASUS ProArt GR1X?
The GR1X is a small-form-factor desktop in ASUS’s ProArt line. It combines NVIDIA’s RTX Spark platform with a compact chassis, and ASUS positions it for creative production, AI development, and local AI workflows. ASUS had previewed the system at IFA on September 2, 2026; its October announcement adds launch and availability details. ASUS’s October 2026 announcement and official GR1X product page describe the product and its specifications.
ASUS describes RTX Spark as an integrated platform combining a Blackwell RTX GPU, Grace CPU, fifth-generation Tensor Cores with FP4 support, and NVLink-C2C. The official product information lists up to a 20-core Grace CPU, a 6,144-core Blackwell RTX GPU, up to 128GB of unified memory, and up to 1 petaflop of FP4 AI performance. These figures are ASUS specifications and performance claims; the cited material does not include independent testing.

ASUS lists the GR1X at 150 × 150 × 51 mm, making it a compact desktop rather than a conventional tower. Its published hardware and connectivity details include:

These are manufacturer-listed specifications. The announcement does not provide independent thermal, noise, or workload-performance measurements.
What local AI workloads does ASUS have in mind?
ASUS presents the GR1X as a way to run AI models and creative workflows on a local desktop. Its software discussion names MuseTree and StoryCube, as well as the Hermes Agent and ComfyUI ecosystem. ASUS says local execution can support privacy and customization and avoid per-token cloud charges for workloads run on the machine. That is the company’s framing, not a verified comparison of total costs, privacy protections, or model quality.

Local hardware is not a replacement for every cloud service. ASUS acknowledges that cloud platforms may still be useful for frontier-scale work or additional burst capacity. In practice, whether the GR1X is suitable depends on the model, software, memory requirements, and workflow; the listed peak FP4 figure alone does not establish how quickly it will complete a particular task.

When will the ASUS ProArt GR1X be available, and how much will it cost?
ASUS says the GR1X will be available later in 2026 through select premium retailers, mainly in 64GB and 128GB configurations. The company has not stated a GR1X price, exact retail date, or final regional configuration details in the announcement. ASUS separately says global pre-orders for its RTX Spark ProArt PCs began October 7, 2026, with first U.S. units arriving October 16; those dates do not establish the GR1X’s own sale date. The laptop prices in the same release do not apply to this mini PC.

There is also a date inconsistency in the ASUS release: its page heading is dated October 8, 2026, while the body dateline says October 8, 2027. The release’s stated pre-order and U.S. arrival dates are in 2026, so the heading and availability chronology indicate 2026 as the intended announcement year.
