Logitech says its Logi Options+ app is now available for Googlebook, letting owners of six named Logitech mice and keyboards customize physical controls for Gemini features, including Magic Pointer. A custom mouse button is optional: Google also documents activation from the status bar, with a cursor wiggle, or by pressing Action + G.
What Logi Options+ adds to Googlebook
In an announcement dated October 5, 2026, Logitech said Logi Options+ can connect supported mice and keyboards to Googlebook’s Gemini features. Users can map a physical button or key to Magic Pointer, Circle to Search, or Gemini Dictation/Text. Logitech also says a cursor wiggle can open Magic Pointer.
The point is customization: instead of relying only on on-screen controls or a keyboard shortcut, you can assign a compatible peripheral’s controls to selected actions. Logitech’s announcement describes the intended productivity benefits, but it does not provide independent test results or measured gains.

Logitech’s launch announcement names these six models. The list is specific to the products Logitech identified; it does not establish compatibility for every Logitech peripheral.

Logitech says its products recommended for Googlebook are available through Logitech.com and retailers where Googlebook is sold in North America, the United Kingdom, Germany, France, Australia, and New Zealand. Availability of a particular model may vary by market and retailer.
What Magic Pointer does
Google describes Magic Pointer as a way to point to and select content on screen, then ask Gemini about it—for example, to answer questions, compare items, or create something based on selected content. Google says you can select one or multiple items, up to 10 at a time.

Google’s help instructions say to set up and sign in to the Gemini app and make the Google app the device’s default assist app. The feature’s listed languages are English, German, French, and French Canadian. Google says it is available on Googlebook devices in countries where Gemini is available.

How to enable and start Magic Pointer
Enable the feature and cursor wiggle
- Open Settings → System → Interaction → Magic Pointer.
- Turn on Magic Pointer. In the same settings area, enable the cursor-wiggle preference if you want to summon it by moving the cursor.
- Adjust wiggle sensitivity if needed.
Choose an activation method
- Status bar: Choose Magic Pointer from the status bar.
- Cursor wiggle: Wiggle the cursor if the preference is enabled.
- Keyboard shortcut: Press Action + G.
- Mapped peripheral control: Configure a supported Logitech mouse button or keyboard key in Logi Options+. Google’s help page also notes that some mice can be set up to open Magic Pointer through their companion app.
Once Magic Pointer is active, select the screen content you want Gemini to use and enter your question or request. The mapped button is a convenience, not a requirement.

Googlebook availability and launch context
Google introduced Googlebook on September 21, 2026, describing it as a new laptop category built on the Android technology stack with desktop foundations from ChromeOS. Google named Acer, ASUS, Dell, HP, and Lenovo as initial device makers.
Google’s launch post said pricing starts at $899 and gave U.S. retail availability from October 4, 2026, followed by Canada, the U.K., Ireland, France, Germany, and Australia from October 5. Those are launch announcements, not a guarantee of current stock or pricing; check a retailer’s current listing for purchase details.

What Logitech’s announcement does—and doesn’t—establish
The announcement establishes Logitech’s stated launch compatibility list and the actions Logi Options+ can map on Googlebook. It does not establish that every Logitech product works with the app on Googlebook, nor does it quantify time saved or other productivity results. Google and Logitech describe potential workflow benefits, but those statements are not independent performance findings.
