No native Apple Silicon version of The Elder Scrolls Online has been announced. As of October 8, 2026, ESO Support says ARM-based Macs are not officially supported, and the game currently runs on them as an Intel application through Apple’s Rosetta translation layer. ZeniMax Online Studios has committed to keeping Mac players able to play when macOS 28 arrives in fall 2027, but its September 2026 statement does not say that solution will be a native client or give a release date.
Does ESO run natively on Apple Silicon?
No native Apple Silicon client is confirmed in the official statements cited here. In a September 17, 2026 forum post, Jessica Folsom, Associate Director of Community at ZeniMax Online Studios, said ESO currently runs as an Intel-based application through Rosetta on Apple Silicon Macs. Separately, ESO Support says ARM-based Macs are not officially supported.
That means some players may be able to run the Intel client through Rosetta, but successful operation on an individual Mac is not the same as official support or a native Apple Silicon release.

What has ZeniMax said about Mac support after macOS 28?
Folsom wrote that Apple is expected to end support for Intel-based applications when macOS 28 launches in fall 2027. She said ZeniMax is “committed to making sure our Mac players can keep playing ESO once macOS 28 arrives” and would share more information the following month. At the October 8, 2026 research timestamp, that promised update was still in the future.

- Apple-designed M1 chip for a giant leap in CPU, GPU, and machine learning performance
- 8-core CPU packs up to 3x faster performance to fly through workflows quicker than ever*
- 8-core GPU with up to 6x faster graphics for graphics-intensive apps and games*
- 16-core Neural Engine for advanced machine learning
- 8GB of unified memory so everything you do is fast and fluid
The statement establishes a commitment to continued Mac play, not the technical form of the solution. It does not announce a native port, a delivery date, or expected performance. Players should therefore distinguish the announced continuity goal from an unconfirmed native client.
Current status versus the future commitment
| Question | Current status | What the statement says about the future |
|---|---|---|
| Architecture | Intel-based application running through Rosetta on Apple Silicon, according to Folsom’s September 17, 2026 post. | A future native Apple Silicon client is not confirmed in the cited statement. |
| Support | ESO Support says ARM-based Macs are not officially supported. | ZeniMax says it is committed to keeping Mac players able to play after macOS 28 arrives. |
| Timing | The Intel client currently relies on Rosetta for Apple Silicon Macs. | macOS 28 is expected in fall 2027; no ESO solution date is stated. |
| Practical certainty | ESO Support lists display workarounds, while warning they are not guaranteed. | Implementation details remain unannounced in the cited post. |
What to try if ESO has display problems on an ARM-based Mac
ESO Support lists several display-related workarounds that have helped some players, but explicitly says they are not guaranteed. Treat them as troubleshooting attempts, not fixes or proof that the configuration is supported.

- Switch the game to windowed mode.
- Change the display to a scaled “More Space” resolution.
- If you have an external display, start ESO in windowed mode on that display. After entering the game world, move the game window to the primary monitor.
- Try the Display Menu app to select a fixed resolution.
If these suggestions do not help, ESO Support says you can log into the same account on another PC or Intel-based Mac that meets the game’s system requirements.

Mac system requirements—and the Apple Silicon caveat
ESO’s published Mac minimum requirements are macOS High Sierra 10.13, a Mid-2017 Mac or newer, at least 4 GB of GPU memory, 105 GB of free disk space, and a persistent broadband internet connection. The support page cautions that requirements may change and directs ARM Mac users to its separate Apple Silicon support guidance.
