To check a Mac’s warranty or AppleCare+ coverage, open Apple menu > System Settings > General > AppleCare & Warranty, then select the Mac. You can also check through Apple’s My Support website or look up coverage using the Mac’s serial number.
Check coverage in System Settings
- On the Mac, open the Apple menu and choose System Settings > General > AppleCare & Warranty.
- Select the Mac to view its plan and coverage expiration details.
Apple also documents System Settings > General > About > Details as a route to warranty and coverage information. Exact labels or placement can vary by macOS version. See Apple’s warranty and AppleCare instructions.
Check coverage in My Support
- Go to mysupport.apple.com and sign in with the Apple Account associated with the Mac.
- Select the Mac to see support eligibility details, including hardware repairs and technical support.
- To get documentation of coverage, choose View Proof of Coverage. If that option is missing, Apple says to make sure two-factor authentication is set up for the Apple Account.
Check coverage with the Mac’s serial number
Use Apple’s coverage check if you prefer a serial-number lookup or cannot conveniently navigate your account’s device list. Apple lists About This Mac, System Information, the Apple Account device list, Terminal, the Mac itself, and its original packaging as ways to find the serial number. Its Mac model and serial number guide explains where to look.
If the Mac’s logic board has been replaced, the serial number printed on the computer or its packaging might no longer be active. Use a current source, such as About This Mac or the Apple Account device list.

| Method | Best for | What it provides |
|---|---|---|
| System Settings | Checking on the Mac itself | Plan and coverage expiration details for the selected Mac |

| Serial-number lookup | Looking up a Mac without using account device navigation | Coverage information associated with the serial number |
If your AppleCare plan is missing
A missing plan in the coverage view does not, by itself, establish that AppleCare was never purchased. Apple identifies several possible reasons: setup or account linking may be incomplete, the plan may be associated with another Apple Account, or a recurring payment may have failed and led to cancellation.
- Follow any Finish AppleCare+ Setup prompt.
- Check the subscriptions for the Apple Account that may hold the plan, including any other account used for the purchase.
- If you still cannot find or link the plan, contact Apple Support. Apple says the agreement number, Mac serial number, original receipts, and Apple Accounts involved may help resolve the issue.
What your coverage result means for repairs
Use the result for the specific Mac and your country or region: AppleCare options and eligibility vary by device and location, so a general rule cannot establish a universal purchase window or plan term. Apple provides device eligibility information; check the terms shown for your Mac.
