If radon readings and clearly documented sensor coverage matter most, Airthings View Plus is the better-supported choice. It measures seven indoor air factors and has an on-device e-ink display. Amazon’s Smart Air Quality Monitor may appeal if you already use Alexa, but the available official Amazon documentation does not establish its full sensor list or enough specifications for a fair feature-by-feature verdict.

Choose View Plus if radon is a priority
View Plus is the clear fit of these two when you specifically want radon readings: Airthings documents the sensor, method, and measurement range. A radon monitor reports conditions at its location; it does not establish whether a home is safe or replace appropriate testing and professional advice. Its radon accuracy figures are manufacturer estimates, not independent comparative test results: Airthings estimates approximately 10% accuracy after seven days and 5% after two months at 5.4 pCi/L, after the monitor has settled.

Consider Amazon if Alexa setup is central—but verify the features first
The Amazon monitor is a real product, identified by Amazon as model P3A7EN, and Amazon documents setup through its Alexa app. That may make it relevant to an Alexa-centered household. But the available official pages do not confirm its full set of measurements or enough display, alert, and performance details to show how it compares with View Plus. Check the current Amazon product documentation and listing for the exact capabilities you need before buying.

Do not choose either as a carbon monoxide alarm
Amazon states that its Smart Air Quality Monitor is not certified as a CO alarm or detector and is not a substitute for a carbon monoxide alarm. Treat it as an air-quality monitor, not life-safety equipment. The available information here also does not establish View Plus as a life-safety alarm.
What View Plus measures and how to read its specifications
Airthings lists seven measurements: radon, PM2.5 particulate matter, CO2, VOCs, humidity, temperature, and air pressure. Its e-ink display shows readings on the device, while the app provides setup, alerts, and trend data. The product page recommends indoor placement around average breathing height and at least 3 feet from vents, fans, windows, or doors.

For radon, Airthings specifies a 0–500 pCi/L range on its current product page. The manufacturer’s View series specification sheet, published April 13, 2026, gives its accuracy estimates at a stated concentration and settling duration. Those estimates should not be read as an independent test or as a promise of identical performance in every home.

It also lists PM2.5 detection from 300 nm to 10 μm and a range of 0–200 μg/m³. Airthings’ current product page presents different PM2.5 range and CO2 accuracy details, so these series-sheet figures should be understood as specifications from that dated document rather than silently combined with the current product-page claims.

Power, setup, and placement trade-offs
View Plus: display without a phone, app for setup and history
View Plus can run on six AA batteries or USB-C. Airthings advertises up to two years on batteries, with runtime dependent on factors including Wi-Fi/router conditions and sensor interval. The screen displays readings without opening a phone, but the free Airthings app is required for initial setup, alerts, and trend data. When powered by USB-C, View Plus can act as a hub for compatible Wave monitors.
Airthings warns that humidity above 85% can permanently damage the radon sensor. Its published View series operating limits are 4–40°C and below 85% relative humidity. Follow the manufacturer’s placement and environmental guidance rather than treating the monitor as suitable for every room.

Amazon’s safety documentation gives a 5V/1A rating and an operating temperature range of 0–35°C for model P3A7EN. - List the measurements you actually need. If radon is essential, View Plus has documented radon measurement; the available Amazon sources do not establish that capability.
- Decide how you want to see readings. View Plus has a customizable e-ink display for up to four values and app-based trends. Verify Amazon’s current listing if an on-device display or particular alerts matter to you.
- Match the device to your setup. View Plus uses Wi-Fi and the Airthings app, and USB-C power enables its Wave hub role. Amazon documents Alexa app setup and grouping, but not a full capability comparison.
- Check the current listing before comparing cost or availability. A fair, current price comparison is not established here, and a price alone would not resolve the missing feature information for Amazon.
