To use picture-in-picture (PiP) on a Chromebook, play a video in Chrome or an Android app and select the video’s Picture-in-Picture control. The video then stays in a floating window while you work elsewhere. For Chrome videos, you can also open Chrome’s Media Controls and choose Enter picture-in-picture.

Select the video’s Picture-in-Picture control. The control’s location and availability can vary by video source.

Google documents PiP for videos in Chrome and Android apps, but does not list compatibility for every website, player, or app. If you do not see a PiP control, that source may not offer the feature.

Use Chrome Media Controls instead
When the video is playing in Chrome, you can start PiP from Chrome’s Media Controls:

Open Media Controls near the Chrome profile icon.

Choose Enter picture-in-picture.
This is an alternative to selecting PiP from the video itself; use whichever control is easier to reach.

Resize or tuck the floating video
Resize the PiP window
Drag a top corner of the floating window to resize it. Double-click or double-tap the window to cycle through its default, chosen, and maximum or minimum sizing behavior.
Google says a new Chrome PiP window with no cached size starts at around 20% of the available work area; its maximum size is about 80%. These are approximate dimensions, not fixed pixel sizes.

Move it out of the way
Drag the PiP window to the left or right edge of the screen, then select the Tuck handle to restore it when you want to see the video again. Dragging the window to the top or bottom edge removes it.

No separate PiP Accessibility toggle is described in Google’s Chromebook guidance. PiP is a video-window feature, started from the video or, for Chrome playback, from Media Controls. Its window actions use on-screen controls; the documented steps do not require a physical accessory.
