Choose a Fire TV Stick based first on your television: an HD-only TV points to an HD model, while a 4K TV makes a 4K model worth considering. Amazon’s documentation lists the Fire TV Stick HD (2026), Fire TV Stick 4K Plus (2025), and Fire TV Stick 4K Select (2025); its September 30, 2026 update log also records a Fire TV Stick 4K (2026). Check the exact model and its current local listing before you buy.
Start with your TV’s resolution
If your TV is HD
An HD-only television does not need a 4K streaming stick to display 4K video. Start by comparing the Fire TV Stick HD with any other HD-compatible option currently listed for your market. If your TV supports 4K
A 4K-capable TV makes a 4K Fire TV Stick a reasonable category to compare. Verify the resolution and other specifications in the exact model’s column; do not infer them from a name alone. Whether 4K playback is useful also depends on the content and setup you intend to use, so check the product’s documented support before ordering.

The 2025 model years for the 4K Plus and 4K Select are stated on Amazon’s device-specification page. Amazon’s documentation update log records the HD Stick specification page on April 23, 2026, and a Fire TV Stick 4K specification page on September 30, 2026; it describes the 2026 devices as worldwide releases. Those documentation dates do not establish live stock in a particular country or store.
Do not treat the 4K Plus and 4K Select as the same device
Amazon lists the Fire TV Stick 4K Plus and Fire TV Stick 4K Select as separate models. Their names alone do not establish how their features differ, so compare the official entries for the precise models rather than assuming “Plus” or “Select” implies a particular capability.

- Identify your TV’s resolution. For an HD-only TV, begin with an HD stick. For a 4K TV, compare 4K models.
- Confirm the exact model name and year. The documented range includes 2025 and 2026 models, and the 2026 4K model should be checked alongside the 4K Plus and 4K Select.
- Check the feature you care about. Use Amazon’s specification page and comparison table to verify model-specific output, formats, connectivity, memory, or storage rather than relying on the name.
- Check your local listing at purchase time. Confirm the seller, stock, model, and current price for your marketplace; documentation does not guarantee availability or a particular price.
What the available information does not establish
Amazon’s documentation establishes model names, certain model years, and update-log dates. It does not by itself establish which model is the best value, which is currently cheapest, or what is in stock at a given retailer.
